**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

I have just been given details of my medical pension. I have been awarded a lump sum of £18,000 and a monthly payment of £500 a month. It's more than I was expecting tbh but I would still rather be in the RAF, going to miss it.

You will miss it mate, for a start you're going to have to work for a living now :D

I left in Nov 2008 on a Medical Discharge (MD) after 21 years service and I still miss the Army. However, I'm now working for the MoD as a Civil Servant doing the job I got released from! The pension is a godsend and pays for my mortgage which takes a lot of stress away. PM me if you have any questions as I have quite a lot of info about what you may be entitled to etc.

I've done 3 PT sessions in the past 6 months lol. Been on so many STA courses mind you, not exactly had the chance.

The sort of STA course where you get what looks like an advanced snooker player badge at the end of it or the sort where you fly little remote controlled planes?

what unit you deploying with Ghosteh? STA courses? please tell me you are not going out as an STA tech...:D

STA as in Special To Arms training, basically what ever you need to learn for your job roll, in my case, a lot of SatCom systems, among other things. Been interesting though :D.

You on the wing?

I would love to have forced PT like that. Its crap doing most of it in my own time. Don't get the chance half the time.

Shuddup Begbie you get plenty of time, ya just spend it beating the meat in your room! hahaha

A family friend has a grandson who was wayward, in trouble with the police and lost direction a few months back. I had a coffee with him and his gran a couple of days before he started ITC at Catterick.

He has just finished week 8 and is doing very well and loving it. It really is a pleasure to see someone's life turned around.

Good story, happy for him.
