Forza 4

I totally prefer manual gears, once I'm familiar with a car, but the cockpit cam is new to me. I think I'll get used to it, given a bit of time.

Just using a pad at the mo muggs, but I have a MS wheel.

I think I'll be getting a Fanatec for this game though. It will be worth it.

The standard pedals are much cheaper, but I know I would regret buying them.

The Elite pedals should be really good as well though.
If you are considering CSP then PM me sometime as I will give you a spare set (not used) of CSP "Pedal Kit" for a good price if your interested.

Have you got this all ordered yet ibert?
I have a friend has one coming who has only used the X360 wheel as well. Guess hes in for a big surprise. Will keep you posted and maybe try to do a review on it if your holding off a bit before you order yourself.

This game really looks to be excellent in so many ways. Really polished too it seems. Great that most seem impressed.

Look forward to your upcoming splashes of paint.

It's the same as Forza 3 - if you trigger the uncertification in the last sector it carries across to the next lap. It stops people cutting corners on the previous lap to gain an advantage on the certified lap. If you uncertify in the last sector just rewind and don't mess up again.

It might sound petty but if T10 leave the smallest chink open some **** will cheat their way up a leaderboard with it.

I had no idea it counted the final sector collisions, etc as it. Annoying :p

I'm using the MS wheel on a Wheel Stand pro and really like it. Wheel Stand pro don't list the Fanatec wheels as a compatible product which is a shame. I'd love to get a Fanatec but don't think I could stomach the costs!

Mr Latte,

Do you know the differences between the Club Sport pedals and the CSR Elites? Here in NZ, we only have one reseller and its $818 for the clubsports and the 911 GT2 wheel... I've been told that the CSR elites will be cheaper but I do not know by how much and what sacrifice will be made for them to be cheaper...

Awsome, just awsome :D

Feels just like Forza should, all assists off with every cranked up to simulation.

My one gripe, in FM3, the clutch is A, on this, I had to resort to simply manual without the clutch as it seems A wasn't the clutch and I couldn't work out what was!

Other than that, the cars spin a little more violently, as in if you start to lose the back end on the Zonda, you have a split second to correct or you will be coming off.

Cannot wait for this now :D

I'm sure you'll be able to remap the controls and choose where you want the clutch in the final version.

As for spinning the Zonda... Yeah, I spun it going across the line and missed out on a decent time for the lap. Gutted. Mind you, I have also managed a couple of perfect corners, so I must be doing something right.

It does look superb, I cancelled my preorder for battlefield 3 to get this instead. Might as well make use of my wheel, plus F4 feels brilliant.

I must admit, i am wondering how much difference the pedals really make. I went for the standard pedals, only because I could feel myself having palpitations looking at the price, are they really that good ?

You would be in your element with the Fanatec. Such an incredible piece of kit. Well worth the money. I considered getting one a few years ago, I finally bit the bullet a couple of weeks ago and don't regret it one bit. The missus however.............

Those guys with wheels... Just how do you play?

What size screens to you have and how far do you sit from it?

My only option would be to mount the wheel on my desk, which is 1foot away from my 50" plasma lol.

I've got my GT2 wheel on a Fanatec Rennsport Stand and sit about 3 feet from my 27" iMac or 4 or so from my 32" TV. The wheel stands are about the only way you'll get it supported properly and be able to use it I guess.

In the lounge I am about 7' away from the TV (50") Any closer would be a bit to much if i'm honest.

In my room I would be about 5' away from the TV (37"), I have pulled they TV forward on the stand by about 6" or so. I really wanted it closer.

The thing is though. If I didnt have the Gameracer seat I would have bought (or made) other possibilities to ensure I could play with a wheel in comfort. I just bit the bullet and thought sod it. A good wheel is no good without a proper base etc, so I bought the Gameracer seat.

Maybe try and use a different table so your not so close to your TV, I did hear someone mention that they used the "Dave Laptop Table" from Ikea as a base. Apparently it does the job just fine.

so if the release date is 14th the last preorder day is 13th ? - need to make sure i have the funds for pre-order ;)

Yeah NZ and AUS get stung pretty bad for these products.
The Elite pedals are typically £50/$50 less than the CSP.

To be honest and only my own opinion here but the Elite offer the most interesting feature of the CSP and thats the "Load Cell". They can have a later optional kit to allow them to be inverted etc like the new standard pedals also. The CSP need a d.i.y mod to do that if you want hanging pedals.

Consoles do not use the full resolution of the pedals so they arent as precise on X360/PS3 as they can be in PC games. So the bebefits of the CSP "wireless sensors" seems a bit wasted however the CSP are all metal and they can be adapted with their own optional tuning kit.

I would say that it depends what you reckon you will play more if the extra cost is worth it. For console players the new Elite pedals with a load cell are a really good choice. The load cell will make you faster than standard plastic pedals as you have much better control over the braking.

so,i have question - what is good (but not most expensive) wheel for x360?
Fanatec GT2?original M$ wheel?
As i want - finally - to drive this forza with wheel, just cant spend to much
Thanks for advice

For me a good ratio for screen size/distance is 1.5x the screen height.
You should get a comfortable yet face filling FOV at around 25"-30" with a 50" screen. Many professional cockpits and those used at game shows have something similar.

My own cockpit will have triple 24" at approx 28" distance (much wider FOV of course). While thats great for FM and GT its a bit crap for single screen games. The cockpit will have the option to remove those to enjoy single screen games on a 120" motorised projection screen approx 80" from seating position.

It will be nice for sure but Ive been planning/working at this cockpit idea for almost 3 years.
