Other than the pretty obvious ammo or medical cross sign above people's head? No, they're just not paying attention.
Fact is even if you had a commo rose people aren't going to pay attention because they are fixated on one thing and spatially aware as a chocolate bar.
Im usually support or medic (barely touched Assault in BF3 though), been playing the game since BF2, do clan vs clan stuff and in BC2 my teamwork score is 10% of my pts, which is a fair amount given that its easier to score from kills & flags, or hide in tanks etc
Wasnt until the 4th day of playing the beta (and i did the alpha too, may have been different then), 8hrs gameplay, that i realised the icon was an indication of them needing something from me. I've seen it before, and for some reason assumed they were the same class as me, a class ID if you like.
Yeah, if you look at 2-3 people and think about it they dont all have these icons over them, but decoding Dice's hints isnt something you focus on midway through a game when your trying to be alert for being shot at.
I had to ask a squadmate over TS if they were support cos of the symbol and wondering whether that was a hint or a class icon, they were assault so i ran over and racked up a quick 70pts cos they were on their last clip and didnt realise (nor had they asked me over TS for ammo).
I'll throw down packs to people i think might need it, or drop them in spots i know are frequently used to 'camp', but i dont think ive ever heard a request for ammo. Maybe im not used to some of the in-game audio, or im blocking it out as ignorable clutter and trying to focus on gunfire & signs of movement etc.
I have squadmates who in BC2 i'll frequently have to remind them on TS to heal themselves, as a medic, cos they forget about these things. So im not a self-centered player, never have been in the way i play, but its easy to get wrapped up in YOUR game and not throw out packs at random.
Im sure thats common for most people, though i dont doubt there plenty who dont get the whole teamwork thing and some who just glaze over and go rambo & only in it for their glory.
First run in with a hacker (that I know). He was teleporting people to his C4 laced trap. What a ****, does not bode well if it is compromised already
Oh snap
Theres no punkbuster running until it goes final, i dont think they support unfinished releases. You just have to grin and bare the fact that the game is wide open for cheats at the moment. Its not DICEs fault, or a sign of it being hard to police (it will have hackers, what games dont?) but the current state isnt being policed at all. You just have to walk away rather than let them anger you with their cheating.
