HTC Sensation or Iphone4?

Well, based on this evening I think the answer is clear. HTC Sensation.

The 4S is still better than the Sensation (not comparing screen size).

I know people are very underwhelmed (myself included) but it's not as if they haven't changed anything.

If you use a Sensation or SGS II for any prolonged period of time, going back and playing with an iPhone is awful. Just based on screen size alone I couldn't manage with anything less than the Sensation now!

The battery isn't THAT poor either, and there is an extended version out which makes a difference. Anyone who has used smartphones over the last 8 years or so should be used to shocking battery life in comparison to a "normal" phone anyway, so in realistic terms it's not too big a deal.

For you, maybe.

I'd like at least a 4" screen but I'll live with a 3.5" for the time being.

ultimately yes its better than the sensation not so the SGSII. However when you factor in price for both on contract - the sensation and SGSII will be almost half what you'd pay for the 4S.

CHOICE IS YOURS.

No it isn't.

For some people it really is. LAst year I dropped my other half's Desire down a drain and she had to use a spare iPhone 3GS of mine for a few days. She absolutely hated it, despite previously being an iPhone owner for 2 years before getting the Desire.

If you want an Iphone then wait until the new one is released. But I strongly recommend the SG2, I've messed around with my mates Iphones and the SG2 is just so much better in pretty much every area apart from build quality (I hate Apple but gotta admit the build quality is the best with the Iphones).

I suspect that's due to having to get used to a different OS and UI, or, being a female, got annoyed she now had the same phone as her mate:p

Why does this thread exist? really... It's like saying "Ferrari or used Ford Escort?" the Sensation is vastly superior to the dated iPhone 4. It's hardware is miles better and you have a OS that does not wall you in. Plus the Sensation does not have the worst design feature ever... glass on the front and back of the phone. Because it's not like people ever drop there phones right?!

The SGSII is better than both though.

I wouldn't call the Sensation a Ford Escort, just because it's cheaper. It isn't that bad. ;)

Yes, there are now - the iPhone 4S. Aside from that, the Android vs iOS argument is totally subjective depending on the person.

Hardware-wise it is probably better.

Android vs iOS is a matter of choice.

Screen size may be a deciding factor for some people too.

I would probably recommend some other Android phone to someone considering either iPhone 4 or HTC Sensation as they both pretty poor choices for the money.

What's so appealing about the iPhone 4S? It's a genuine question, I didn't take the time to research it yet and from what I've heard, it isn't much different to the iPhone 4.

The 4S is 'just' an upgraded iPhone 4. However, it does have some considerable upgrades such as -
  • Dual-core processor, up from single core
  • Considerably more powerful GPU
  • 8MP camera with improved optics, up from 5MP
  • 1080p video recording with stabilisation, up from 720p
  • Siri voice assistant, could be good (could be bad)
  • 64GB option, so double storage effectively (but at a cost)
  • Extra antenna that will improve signal quality and stop dropped calls when you have a very weak signal and 'hold it the wrong way'
So, it's nothing massively exciting. People are upset about it for a few reasons -

They wanted an iPhone 5 with a redesign (metal back like the iPad 2), and a 4" screen. I wanted this, and I'm a bit disappointed we didn't see it, but we will eventually. This is the main problem.

They had to wait more than a year for the update.

That hardware specs didn't (though they were never going to) leapfrog the likes of the Galaxy S II, there would have been no good reason for Apple to do that as the 4S specs provide more than enough power, just like the Galaxy S II does now. It will still provide a more than adequate amount of power 2-3 years down the line, I'm sure.

The standby battery life appears to be worse, though it's unlikely that will make much of an impact on anything at this point.

It doesn't really give iPhone 4 users a brilliant reason to upgrade.

what is actually wrong with a sensation? Runs fast, quality screen. decent battery life for a smartphone.

I've have one for a few months and chose it over gxs2 as touchwiz is crap and vanilla android just did not do the screen justice at all
