Not sure if serious.

Of course it does. When you RELY on browser based plugins to launch games/features across all browsers.

Why do you think Battlelog has that annoying yellow info bar at the top whining that your browser is unsupported. It's not because it's universally compatible, is it?

I have my reservations about having a Browser Plug-In that launches a local executable. How long before that is exploited?

its easier to download the latest version of your browser and that plug in than to download and install battlefield 3 and compatible computer hardware to get it to run.

I don't think you understand the point i'm making.

I understand you do not have a point. Leave the browser based stuff for looking at Profiles/Stats....like...well - most games which stat tracksy out there? This is nothing new. Nobody is suggesting you need to launch the game to be able to stat track/view profiles. You do not need a Plug-In to do this.

WHY, however, move the gaming portions OUT of the game into the browser with a plug-in? You cannot play without the game, so why do you need to do it from a browser?

If you MUST have it in the browser also why not just leave it in the game natively also?

Sometime around never. Do you actually know anything about browsers and plugins?

I commented on daves post who said he was unhappy that he was launching from in his browser, he would prefer it all in the application, I don't agree with only using this implementation and having used battlelog see the benefits of an in browser solution, having both would be great but using the browser in my experience has so far been very positive and a step in the right direction.

I do not have an issue with it blinding as long as the following is fixed:

1 - The directional effect works, properly (I.E FORWARD not behind and sides)
Agreed. in fact they should actually have to point it at your head to blind you, not just in your general direction.
2 - The light appears to be some kind of physical barrier to bullets. Shooting into what would be a person behind the light never registers hits?????
I've had a few kills on people that were blinding me and the more you do it the easier it gets. You just need to make sure you aim at the source of the light, maybe just a bit above it.
3 - No blind effect in good light/outdoors daylight, it's stupid.
Agreed. It would probably still work a bit if you were really close to the light source but I don't know how to simulate squinting in the game. :)
4 - No On/Off toggle. Should have to depress and hold a key to activate the tac light.
Nah. It's good having people running about with them on so you can see where your targets are.

Never, you believe that? Because Flash is never exploited, right? Or Java, or....etc etc.

You are that confident someone cannot make a malicious website to impersonate BattleLog and start messing with it's own plugin? Okay.

(Already client side modifications to bypass server passwords for example) Why are you under the impression that BattleLog's plugin is infallible?

In reality, the power of torches you can get nowadays is scary, hemisphere breaking scary.

But they're not very fun in video games, at all.

Laser sights do effectively tell you that you're being targetted and you end up running. Is that fun? I thought so. Maybe not for the user but hey, don't point it at my eyes.

But having a permanent flash bang effect from a gun just doesn't work. It really needs to be toned down.

Battlelog uses https so unless someone gets lucky with a forged certificate and/or the user is stupid enough to ignore the warning then there is no danger.

What you are describing isn't a problem that is made worse by Battlelog - merely something that can happen "on the dangerous interwebs".

From a user experience perspective I like battlelog and think its a better implementation then the in app browser, The security angle applies to almost all things on the internet really, nothing remarkable there.

How so? The consoles don't have to put up with this...

People now have to mess around with their AV when things aren't working right.

It's a change that doesn't really have any benefit. Enjoy the single player campaign when BL is done for maintenance, oh right...

It does have a lot of benefits really, being able to launch straight from the desktop environment means less alt tab nightmares when trying to game with friends, the server list in battlelog works and doesn't hang (like bf2) or fail to connect to a master server (like bad comany 2).

The quickmatch feature finds me a server within a few seconds and loads my game without me having to watch a load screen (I can browse the web for those moments) and I like being able to access my statistics and view unlocks outside the game.

Mabe I've just been lucky having no problems but its really cool in my opinion :)
