Squad management isn't important?
Lots of fans have been worried about the lack of squad management and just wanted reassurance that it will be properly implemented in the final product, thats all. Why not even a simple confirmation?

Has been confirmed has it not?

HOW WILL SQUADS WORK IN THE RETAIL VERSION OF BATTLEFIELD 3 ON PC/XBOX 360/PLAYSTATION 3?

Since the Open BETA we’ve added more advanced functionality to manage your squad. You will be able to browse and join specific squads through the squad screen. You can see all players that are in a specific squad as well as who’s playing as lone wolf. As a squad leader you can set your squad to private as well as kick players from the squad.

On console you will also be able to choose if you want the active VoIP channel to be team or squad and invite friends to your squad. You will also be able to mute any player on your team through the scoreboard.

In the same way a hijacked website can force you to download something and execute it?

Hello botnet.

Which, as you clearly know, requires you to do something to download that file. In BF3's case, the user would have to download an illegitimate plugin, obviously from an illegitimate site, which would execute an illegitimate local executable, which has been downloaded too.

Now, tell me whether you think the system or the person should be blamed for infecting their machine?

It isn't spot on, but it's far better than BFBC2

Issues of Hit Reg are where you are in a bush or shooting someone in a bush, the shots register you've hit the bush but not the person in it or outside of it.

If I see someone in a bush I go and stab them. Then tea-bag them. :p

There have been exploits before (and some still exist) that can use vulnerabilities to execute code on peoples manchines older versions of internet explorer are riddled with them and chrome has atleast one that still exists last time I checked and who knows when another exploit will be found for other browsers.

EDIT: So if your one of those people who browse dodgy sites *cough* porn *cough* using Chrome thinking your safe, don't.

I was moaning to my brother the other day about how i cant see the full map when i push m, He said if i push N after M it brings up the full map, Didnt actually test it tho.

Naw, it just shows you more of the map in the little circle.

Like it did in BF2.

Finally! Someone else that can apply a bit of logic to the discussion.

Once again, this is not a failing of Battlelog and isn't made worse by it working the way it does.

Exactly, you raise some good browser issues, which reinforces my point.

The move to Battlelog and a web based infrastructure makes you no more susceptible to attack than at any other time.

It's a mute point.

I may have missed the point RE battlelog tho, was more concentrating on browser specific vulnerabilities, I agree the web based portion of BF3 is no less secure than any other implementation.

And if someone did compromise your browser I'm sure they'd be chasing after your BF3 details as a priority over say... credit card information, paypal, etc. :D

Been playing around with the MAV (drone):

It's a lot of fun, and it's IR camera makes it easy to spot the enemy and mark them for your team.

It has no weapon, but you can put a claymore on it:

pwn2own the browser hacking competition couldn't break Chrome or Firefox in their 2011 stint.

Which is surprising.

Chrome or Firefox vulnerability (or lack thereof)

Not 3rd party plugins?

Why does connecting to Battlelog over SSL preclude the plugin from exploitation? One would hope it had some level of validation that the commands it is handling and sending to the local system to launch BF3 but that is nothing but an assumption. Maybe it does, maybe it does not?

You can already inject code client side to bypass Password requirements to join a server.

The point is that the Plug-In is more surface area for exploitation. How much more surface area depends on it's implementation. The password bypass code injection was worked out in what, no time at all? So as people learn more about the plug-in why is it inconceivable to believe that another, non authorised website can hook into the plugin and pass instruction to the local files which launch BF3?

One assumes the plugin is locked into BF3 files but again, assumption. Maybe DICE/EA coded it in a way to be able to dynamically launch whatever they want with a set of variables passed from browser to local system.

Why is this not seen as a potential issue.

Ideally we want to move towards a plug-in free browsing future. I use a small handful of plugins that are pretty much required for web browsing. Flash, Shockwave.

Installing and using more is not ideal personally. "It's the nature of the web so whatever" is the wrong attitude.

You under-estimate the potential for exploitation, or maybe more accurately - over-estimate the security implemented by the developers. Hell, there have been exploits in code using JPEG images!

It does have a lot of benefits really, being able to launch straight from the desktop environment means less alt tab nightmares when trying to game with friends, the server list in battlelog works and doesn't hang (like bf2) or fail to connect to a master server (like bad comany 2).

The quickmatch feature finds me a server within a few seconds and loads my game without me having to watch a load screen (I can browse the web for those moments) and I like being able to access my statistics and view unlocks outside the game.

Mabe I've just been lucky having no problems but its really cool in my opinion :)

So you clearly have never used xfire or steam if you think this is good.

Less alt tab nightmares? Dice are actively promoting alt tabbing because you can't see battlelog ingame.

It takes longer for me, have to start up Origin, log into battlelog, game has to load. The statistics have always been available through third party websites, they even offered estimations based on your trends.
