Just had early upgrade call from T-Mobile so depending on how the Nexus Prime looks I might get it and sell this on. What would I be looking at for mint condition unlocked SGS2?

They going for £350 on ebay but not sure if that's about right as I don't tend to use ebay much.

If i tether via wifi my laptop connects to the phone fine, and i can still use the internet on the phone fine, but the network icon says "limited access" on the laptop and web pages will not load.

Can anyone shed some light on what i'm doing wrong? I'm on 3's unlimited internet package on my phone which allows tethering.

are you selling second hand or a the new upgrade?

second hand is below £300 I think - ebay fees are a rip off now - over 10%

edit - do you reckon the prime will be available in t-mob? the nexus s wasnt

Selling it 2nd hand, I bought the SGS2 sim free when it came out.

Checked on the 2nd hand high street places and they are going for £395 for mint condition unlocked.

No idea if Prime will be available on T-Mo, if not i might just keep the contract I'm on as I've been dropped down to £15 a month from £30 on the same tariff so can keep my 3GB internet for another 12 months according to the guy on the phone.

what like at cex? is that their selling price? their buying price will obviously be lower.

ebay ranges from £270- £340 what i can see from completed listings - take 10%+ off for fees.

Yeah cex, buying price will be lower but I'd do private sale and get more than they pay.

I'll prob ask £300 for it then if I do upgrade.
 
OK going to root my phone and put a custom ROM on it.

Found this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Only thing that isn't clear to me is what kernel to download.
My phone says Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555
Which leads me to believe this is the correct download? CF-Root-SGS2_XW_CLK_KF3-v4.0-CWM4.zip

Anything else I need to be aware of?
Any recomendations for ROMs?

Sorry, you're running KF3, you might aswell upgrade to KI3 before rooting (just while Odin is fresh in your mind etc).
 
What's the benefit of upgrading the kernel?
I keep seeing mention to a flash counter and warranty - what's the deal with that?
 
KI3 is newer than KF3, that's all there is to it. That is the whole firmware btw, not just the kernel.

Everytime you flash to an unsecure kernel such as CF-Root the binary counter will increment by 1. This may or may not cause issues with repair centres if you need to return the phone.

You can get round this by buying a USB Jig from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...&_nkw=i9100+usb+jig&_sacat=See-All-Categories

If you are going to use a custom ROM you may as well just flash, CF-Root-SGS2_XW_CLK_KF3-v4.0-CWM4.zip with Odin.

Then grab the rom you want, put it on the SD & then enter recovery & away you go.
