AMD Bulldozer Finally!

But the sandybridge '-e' is going to be very expensive. I believe this is their new extreme edition and we all know, based on past pricing that extreme edition cpus are ridiculously expensive.

Also, I read that you need a very special motherboard to run the new '-e' cpus. Perhaps someone can confirm this?

There is a Guru3D article a few post back from me listing them. There is only one "X" extreme version listed in it.

If BD is out tomorrow what do you guys expecdt to see? A news announcement on AMD... or listings on OC shop? What?

CPU's on site and everyone but the most hardcore fanboys going "meh", with reviews that have it getting ripped apart by CPU's from 2008.

I wonder if it's clock for clock slower than the Q6600. A CPU almost 5 years old.

Anyway yes that seems to be the case. Really weird. Why even releasing anything if this is true?

Happened before with the ATi 4000 GPU's.

Everyone expected a marginal increase over the rather poor 3 series. Tons of misinformation floating around, benchies showing it was rubbish, high power draw, etc etc.

Then BAM 800 shaders, high stock clocks, and fantastic pricing.

Not saying that's going to be the case with BD, but don't write something off just because they've done a good job of keeping the details clamped down.

True also.

Edit: just wondering what are those (rather large) black spots in Bulldozer architecture pictures?

I may be way of the mark not 100% sure how cpu life cycle goes.

But Bulldozer is brand new design right? Something for amd to build on.

If this is the case for a new design is it really that bad?

Yes it is looking like it is not going to be as good as current offering but how does it compare to the the very first athlon (Not sure but think phenoms originated from athlon's). So if what I say is true could the bulldozer actually be as bad as people seem to think it possibly is?

Like say I am not sure on how cpu designs work.

Wait, where is this page?

I think I might buy one, just because I have a feeling it's going to be awesome in the end. You don't go calling your product that you spent 7 years developing "bulldozer" if it's going to suck.
