Having looked at our package which is £33.90 for M b/band & L phone we noticed the same package for new subscribers is £31.40. We were considering upgrading to phone XL thinking it would cost us just £1.50 extra based on the above price comparisons i.e. £35.40
Called up to complain to be told we can't quote the website prices & it will cost another £4 to upgrade to XL @ £37.90
Decided to try canceling the phone but keep b/band as our BT line is over 3 miles long & gives us 1meg b/band at best but go back to BT for the phone, they offer unlimited anytime calls for £4.90 against Virgins £8 but not including 0845 etc.
VM Website says b/band M without phone is £21 but get told we will have to pay £25 as £21 is for new subscribers
Rang again & selected 'are you leaving us' & told the bloke we were canceling & going back to BT for it's cheap anytime package & he immediately said you can be upgraded to phone XL with no extra charge with a new 12 month contract.
So for the time being I'm happy with that, If I could get better b/band off BT I would go with them to get their £10 a month line rental offer if you pay the £120 in advance, small print says offer only available if you take b/band
They both have it set up to make you have both services or pay over the top otherwise.
I wonder if BT would allow me the £120 deal with phone only knowing my b/band is utterly crap ?
