Dark Souls (Demon's Souls 2)

I am really not enjoying this. I must have not saved properly or something yesterday, so I'm back in the undead burg, and I JUST CAN'T KILL THAT BIG KNIGHT WITH A SWORD AND SHIELD. I must have got a lucky riposte on him or something. Its like, 10 mins to get to him, die in 2mins, his thrusts go through my shield. 10 mins to get back to him, same again. Done that COUNTLESS, times. And the ones throwing the INSANELY accurate fire bombs are ****ing me over too

I got him by using fire bombs; used my sword on him about two times. Tip would be for all boss characters, where ever you can, dictate the battlefield. I aggroed the black knight and dragged him to an area where there was plenty of room. Tis pretty obvious and you might be doing it already, but just in case you are not.........

They were a git as I was cursed so I couldn't reverse hollowing and one clean fire hit finished me.... gave me another great "get in" moment when I finally downed them (didn't get the axe though :()

Still loving it but I've got to start moving into more unknown teritory which will be interesting and very unnerving I'm guessing.

Yeah they were pretty hard alone, went Human and an NPC you spoke to earlier on leaves a summon right before you enter the area to fight. It made the fight so much easier, then just downed him and chopped his tail off before finishing.

Well I killed the blackknight and taurus boss :D

For the black knight, I pulled him to the open area by the spiral staircase tower, ran up the ladder to the platform where there is guys throwing fire bombs. Fireballed him 6 times, then did a falling attack on him to finish him off. That **** felt sweeeet. Instantly legged it back to campfire after killing taurus as I had 5k souls!

As a pyro I have been spreading my points over strength, vit, dex and end. Should I focus on just one or?

Taurus also dropped this ridiculously huge axe called Demon's Greataxe. How do you find out what stats you need to wield it? It's hugggge!

EDIT: Apparently it's very rare to get the axe drop off him :O

I think you need 46 str! I only have 16! How does the level system work, does it just go up whenever you put a point in something?

When you add a stat, you go up one level.

So you'd need to put your next 30 points in str, which would make you 30 levels higher.

I doubt it is 46str though, that's a lot..

Just killed Havel, was hard but did it in the end. Had to put light armour on to be able to move. His ring rocks.

I just went to Drake Valley and got smassssssssssssssshed. I think im to low for there.

Managed to kill the taurus demon last night, did it on my second go so quite pleased about that.

Whats everyones favourite weapon? I'm quite a fan of a sheild and spear combo, also love my new katana, its just cool.

If you two-hand the weapn, the strength requirements for the weapon are halved, so you'd only need 23 strength. It's still quite a lot early in the game, so you may be better trying to get the Drake Sword further on as it only requires 16 strength, and does more damage anyway.

I'm a Pyro and that's exactly how I'm spending my points, just randomly increasing one of those stats every time I level up. I think as you get further into the game you'll start aiming more towards certain attributes depending on your playstyle, and any weapons you have that you want to use. I remember putting more points into Str and Dex in Demon Souls simply to use a specific bow I'd found.

If you enjoy magic use as well, it's probably wise to upgrade Attunement so that you get more memory slots for your magic. Level 14 gives you 3 slots, and level 16 gives you 4 :)

Just so much enjoyment out of this game, finally managed to get a handle on the black knights and killed the three I'd found last night with a real sense of achievement and 'how did I not get this before?!!?' feeling :)

Havel is still giving me trouble though, managed to waste my last lightning modifier accidentally too, which I bet would have worked great on him.

Where abouts is it that you can start picking up cool magic? I'm just at the bit where theres a big **** off dragon on a bridge?
You don't need magic for him, you really need a bow and lots of arrows :)

To get some magic though, make sure you've got 2500 souls, then go back to Firelink Shrine (the first area you get dropped off by the giant bird), and there is a set of stairs by the bonfire leading down. Go down as far as you can go, and there is a lift. Down there you'll find a merchant/blacksmith who sells a Catalyst (needed for casting sorceries) and the Soul Arrow spell.

Not crossbow, you'll need a standard bow. With a crossbow you can't go into 1st person to aim, which you need to do against Drake.
