Noisy Obsidian 650D

if it makes you feel any better i put my system into this case this morning, no buzzing from front fan, not the quietest case i've used but by no means loud, build quality is brilliant in opinion and damn it does look good.

+1, just built mine too - would not say it is that noisy tbh. Think corsair may have made changes to eliminate the problem by and large.

Just my luck:

1) Faulty fan controller (loud fans & buzzing).
2) Scratches on window.
3) Faulty 5.25" tooless bay clip (doesn't work).
4) Broken tool less hard drive holder (plastic front part broken).

Looking to return it to retailer.
Don't know if I should ask for a refund or replacement.
Replacement may have the same issues.

Edit: Getting a refund & most likely going for the Raven RV02-E

Thanks for the info!
So all theyve done is to give out rubber fan mounts and a voltage reduction extension...
seriously?!?

Got my case. It just says CC650DW not CC650DW-1. Will assemble later and see if I have any problems

I had the revised model for all of a week, the only only way to cure the noise is to cut out the mesh that sit's in front of the fan.

Just hooked up the 2 200m fans to my fan controller on my old case and there is a definite whine from the front fan that is louder than the roof one. Although that's only at full juice so as I plan to use my own fan controller anyway rather than the in-built one I can't see it bothering me at all.

i'm not keen on removing the mesh yet but will probably do it once my case isn't so shiny and new

I got a couple of BitFenix Spectre 230mm fans for the front and top (front one needs a little shaving off the top of the frame to fit nicely). Fitted the front one using the long rubber mounts with a couple of the supplied rubber washer/case fixing grommet things on each mount to space it back from the front mesh. Fans are run off the mobo headers rather than the fan controller - I can get lower speeds using Fan Xpert than I could with the case controller. Had to move the drive bay back to the mid position which made fitting the PSU a touch fiddly but no real problems.

Case is barely audible at idle - no whine at all, just a very low quiet hum. Under CPU load the Silver Arrow fans ramping up are louder than the case fans and during gaming the Twin Frozer at 45% fan speed is the loudest component by far, and it's not particularly loud. Really pleased - may remove the front grille at some point if I can be bothered, just to see whether it makes any difference but for now I'm a happy bunny.

As with most people, the biggest gripe with the case is the lack of space behind the mobo tray. Using lots of cable ties (at least there are a lot of anchor points) and some duck tape I can just get the side on without a bulge. Otherwise the case is really nice to work in, has lots of space and really good cable management with the above caveat.
