Dark Souls (Demon's Souls 2)

Thanks guys - how do I get new magic?

You need to buy it from NPCs. There is a guy in Firelink Shrine who sells Soul Arrow and the Catalyst needed to cast it. Go back there (the starting area after being dropped off by the huge bird), and go down the stairs by the bonfire. Go as far down as you can go, and you'll fnid him behind some bars on a set of stairs. You'll need 2,500 souls to buy both :)

Got the drake sword! Only enough str to 2 hand it though.

Question, with item load, should I just drop any items I don't want? Since you can't sell them anywhere, atleast not at the moment

I was thinking the same, but then realised the junk in your inventory doesn't count towards your equip load, it's only the stuff you have equipped. So you may as well save it all until you can manage to trade it for souls.

Managed to kill one of the Black Knights today after struggling a lot I tried to parry and riposte which did mega damage. Should definitely focus on getting good at timing parries. So that was good times.

Sadly killing some undead in the basement place near the red dragon, i hit a guy behind some bars, only to realise he was a merchant. So now I have to deal with it and carry on, or spend about 24k souls to make him neutral again, fun times.

Ah I see, cheers for clearing that up!

Your not wrong , and i have:mad:

youll be back :p

atm im really really stuck on the Hydra and its doing my head in coz im trying to keep a hold of 15,000 souls :( 2 ring of sacrifices gone....so far ive been able to get my souls back but hydra rapes me.

i got up close like good ole youtube says but wtf if too close you fall to your death...ok fair enough so i avoid cliff but the problem is the bloody necks of the hydra shove you over to cliff. Then he keeps doing range attack even when ur in water arghhh Hardest boss by a MILE.

perhaps different armour might help? Havel's ring - tower black knight at the bottom of the tower just before the hydra (shortcut down from undead burg) - increases your equipment load & lets you wear heavier armour.

Also, i hope you've already got the Drake sword?, since it does a lot of damage (16 strength needed to wield one handed):

....although hitting the tail further up (where it's not moving) is much easier.

Anyway, getting back to the hydra, yeah, it's a pain. You need to get close (decent shield & Drake's sword) to take off a couple, maybe three of the heads; better armour & shield should prevent you getting moved around too much. Then, at least that's how it was for me, stay in the same place (in the shallow water) & finish it off with arrows; remaining head(s) can't touch you at this point.

Ok that made life easier, killed boss and someone else. On the bridge with the red dragon. Managed to get below but can't get the items by the red dragon. Then ended up going to the top of this tower where some mean dude 1 shot me :(

Yeah, i came back to him later; not necessary to kill him to progress. Think he drops his sword/shield but it's not possible to wield them early on anyway. Best to lure him to the bonfire area just before the tower because it gives you more room/time to move & recover stamina.

GOT IM :D It was tough, no flasks left but i did it....what an evil mofo it is. Sweating buckets. Its hard because there is barely enuff time to use a flask before you are hit again.

I found it easier going to the left when you go in the water (in front of a wee land bit) because the shallow area seems bigger. If you fight it head on too easy to fall to your doom.

shoulda sent it back in the post :D

unfortunately there is one area where Dark souls is a fair bit worse than demons souls.......

AI. In dark souls they are fiendishly aggressive thats great but should hard mobs be suiciding themselves all in a line when there is a clear path that they can attack me from? So its tempting to take advantage of that exploit lots of souls..... 11k ish each time.

ohh i did discover that you cant rest at a bonfire (resets the enemies) if an enemy is at your bonfire.....shortly before i died i might add lol

Not doin too bad, just got past the armoured boar and made it to activate those elevators and fire by the blacksmith. I killed the big knight guy no problems and got the thing that upgrades my flask, should I use it now?

When should I become human? And I have not kindled a fire yet,, should you do it often?

I have kindled pretty much every fire i have been to bar one i think.

I only go human if im going to be doing a boss and need a bit of backup from either the summonable npc's or from another player. If i want to be summoned to help someone else or invade or be invaded.

Got invaded first time yesterday, smashed him and got 6/7k souls from them.

Got invaded tonight, some git with an electric spear that just killed me dead in two hits even with my shield up lol. Thankfully I managed to recover my souls :)

can you be summoned if your human? or only when hallowed?

if not why does it let u put ur sign down when human if you cant be summoned?
