There is no purpose to this thread other than a mini-rant. Deep down I am fully versed in the workings of supply and demand but that doesnt stop me fancying a damn good whinge.

Is it me or have tyre prices gone bonkers lately? I can't find tyres for under £200 fitted, a few years back I was paying £160 fitted for the same tyres :(

And does anyone else find the pricing structures bizarre? A 235/45/17 AS2 is £105, yet a 265/35/18 AS2 is £100 more expensive. Is there really twice as much rubber in the slightly larger tyre?

Grrrrr.

The thing is, everything has gone up in price and depending on when the increased costs across production and distribution hit the product of choice, it is periodically getting passed onto the consumer. I would be interested to know how profit margins have changed across the supply chain as this would be more telling . At least it is only a 25% increase, value toilet rolls have gone up from £0.36 to £0.70 for a pack of 4 in the last couple of months.

That upsets me.

Value toilet rolls burn you so that alone upsets me that people use the stuff!

Where do you live? I frequently see this on internet forums, and believed it until i started getting quotes for tyre fitting myself. I think the cheapest i found for £12 PER WHEEL.

Some folks get good prices at their local tyre place, I have a guy who is a mobile fitter with e-tyres so he just comes over and balances and fits a tyre for £5 and takes away the old tyre :p Works for me, not having to do any legwork to get tyres fitted or lug new tyres to a local centre :p

Most backsides deserve nothing more imo:eek::D

People who buy into the luxury quilted stuff make me lol.

Value toilet roll + value baby wipes (26p for 80) is the way to go.

Unlike budget tyres at least you won't find yourself in a ditch when the road gets wet and mucky.

Which reminds me, I need to replace my fronts which were proper ditch finders and did actually find me into the verge in the wet last year.

Quilted nice toilet rolls don't have to be expensive. Supermarkets generic brand stuff is far better than value "sand paper" rolls and aren't that much more expensive. Comfort and convenience over pain any day :p

Aaaand back to tyres! I just checked Elite Direct and they dont' appear to sell the Sessanta any more?

What is this madness! Camskill do have them but they're more expensive there (always have been). I paid £87 each for my fronts about 1.5 months ago from Elite Direct and they've always been around the same price there.

Sad Panda :(

Affordable motoring is now something not for the faint hearted.

Meanwhile, decent, on par with most other "internet great tyres", come the Vred Ultrac Sessantas in 275/35R19 for the princely sum of £175 each. Fitting round here for me is £15 for 4 or £5 each.

where for that price?!?

255/30/19 are £230 from camskill for me, the same price as F1A2 practically.

Didn't I have a whinge about this last year? Think the general consensus was that I was a whinger :D

I was told last year that tyre prices had shot up and would continue to rise, am on my last few mm before the front tyres need changing again so guess I'll have to start saving.

Grrrrr.

Honesty is always the best policy :D

Have you tried Sunny Tyres at £66 a corner, I bet they stop in almost twice the distance of AS2's ;)

But it does go some way to show how people end up on tyres made of chocolate, and how mid range tyres become so popular.

US are £120 a corner, not bad price really, they get good reports as well

I've just received my CSC3s, before I bought them I watched the price fluctuate up and down on a daily basis. In the end I got them for £350, the most I've had to pay for these to date.

Tyre prices are all over the place thesedays.

its because they dont produce as many so cost more ford focus tres are the cheapest as they produce the most , on another rant did you know that the uk governemnt is stockpiling crude oil offshore on massive tankers to keep petrol prices high and generating more tax not widely reported
