is there any disadvantage if I buy bf3 next year.

I mean loadsa guys will have everything unlocked and it will take me ages so it will be unfair advantage?

You think you need to buy game at release to have fair game?

Or if I buy next year wont have fair game until I unlock everything?

Doesnt matter when,

I bet a lot of cod players will buy it at the beginning and then find out that it doesn't play the same as their 'favourite game' and sell it. So it may be wise to play a little later..when you come from cod its hard to get your head around that the game modes arent deathmatches...

Dice only release a new game every 2-3 years and they have said that they will not release one every year as they want to work on improvements and not ship the same game with different maps, so there will still be a lot of players online...

You may keep getting picked off by snipers at the begining as they know all the camping spots but hey - same with every other game.

but why cant you get it on release!!!?????

Waiting will leave you with a few minor disadvantages, 1 bigger one i guess.

Small disadvantages such as everyone else getting used to the weapons, finding the one they like the feel of and what scope/attachments give them the best results. Not having any unlocks for vehicles is probably going to be a little tough to begin with, but not impossible.

The main disadvantage as far as i'd be concerned is map knowledge. Thats so important in games like this, knowing the good spots to attack from, where people tend to camp or hang around, the various ins and outs. It'll take a good hour to just memorise a lot of the map, let alone fully memorise it or learn peoples movement patterns and stuff like that. With 9 maps at launch, conquest and rush variations, not to mention the Karkand DLC and potentially another DLC pack... that would be the 1 concern i'd have. Hell, i think were at a bit of a disadvantage being 3 days behind the Americans and that'll be a bit of an uphill challenge for the first say 5-10hrs for EU players while they unlock a few bits n peices and get on a more level playing field if US players come to EU servers, or vice versa.

Im not sure theres an advantage though, possibly a small saving on purchase. I wouldnt say its a significant disadvantage though, but certainly better to get in there ASAP and clock up points/unlocks as soon as possible and try to gain an advantage over others playing.

I agree with map knowledge

When I first started playing op metro and caspian, mine kept getting picked up by the enemy. This led to large deaths on my side. However once I gained enough familiarity in both maps, the situation reversed quite a lot.

Knowing maps throughly makes it much easier to get good kills

This was my main problem with bf2, i came too it pretty late on. Left me at quite a disadvantage due to not knowing the maps, and having only basic weapons and kit.

Bored? waiting for the game to be released? then I can help you kill some time with my 1 hour footage of battlefield 3 open beta gameplay. View it here,

Just a heads up that the video is still being processed by youtube, so chill.

The settings are on ultra. I used fraps. Also a note some times the clip may just jump to another scene but I assure its the same round, I was just making sure the HDD wasn't full LOL.

There is some jet gameplay some funny and trolling scenes and a load of vehicle destruction. Also it will be nice of what you think of my gameplay :) I came first in a few rounds.

The video produced by fraps was a total of 60.05GB and youtube had no problem with it LOL

I hope you enjoy guys.

yeh very true.

TBH i want the game at release but to do so I will need to buy my new pc parts this week and build next week.

SO the game will cost me 530 quid not 30 quid lol

its a lot to commit to for 1 game.

I have saings but im unemployed. Which is good and bad,

Good- I can play bf3 24/7 for foreseeable future until I get a job.

BAd- gonna take a lot out my saving and no money coming in.

Good part 2- At least if I have bf3 I dont need to spend any money for fun. I can sit in my room and play bf3 which is free barre internet+electricity lol

Fellas,
Pretty set on getting this game, currently my 'rig' is a couple of years old but runs Black Ops smooth as butter (on pretty much highest settings within its limits).
Do you think I should be good for BF3 to run smoothly, don't care if I have to drop down a level, smoothness is key.
Really looking forward to this one :)

Specs?

List:
Win XP
AMD Athlon X4 2.8ghz
ASUS M4A78 Plus mobo
MSI Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128bit
WD Caviar black 500gb 7200rpm
4GB RAm
EDIT* Overclocked to about 3.1ghz I think last time I checked.
Was a relatively cheap build even at the time, but so far has been great and more than enough of what I need (COD & BFBC2 etc)
Didn't know whether the new BF3 game would be such a drainer or not?

Been watching some BF3 trailers and have concluded - apart from the haters - this is one special game, even better than BF2.

Damn...it cannot come sooner.
