List:
Win XP
AMD Athlon X4 2.8ghz
ASUS M4A78 Plus mobo
MSI Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128bit
WD Caviar black 500gb 7200rpm
4GB RAm
EDIT* Overclocked to about 3.1ghz I think last time I checked.
Was a relatively cheap build even at the time, but so far has been great and more than enough of what I need (COD & BFBC2 etc)
Didn't know whether the new BF3 game would be such a drainer or not?

Kinda hard to tell as the beta was an old unoptimised build, but going by that you'd be looking at medium at most.

you need newer op system no xp support for a start.
id say upgrade your card and you should be good. or lower your res quite a bit and play on low settings.

Win XP

Battlefield 3 will not run on XP, so you will need to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7.

Other than that though you will be able to play the game fine, you may just have to run settings on low-medium. If you had a more powerful graphics card you would be all set, but the game should still run well.

Ok cool, thanks chaps.
I'll upgrade to Win7 tomorrow (was not sure whether it would diminish the performance or not - but looks like I HAVE to).
If I were to upgrade the card, what should I be looking at, given the rest of the components, I don't want anything to pricey, just something that will give me that nice bang for my buck.

Is anyone in the UK going to be using a VPN to play BF3 before it comes out on the 28th ? If so which service are you using as I'm thinking about trying it :)

For anyone that uses Giganews they have a free vpn if your on their top package. The free trial does not allow you to use the vpn though :( Still looking.....

If the ping is daft I can play the SP for a day or two ;)

Don't worry about win 7, I find it a great OS to run and it is pretty quick. When Vista came out I moved to Linux, when win 7 came out I went back to windows. You will like it and it will run just as quick as XP if not faster imo anyway.

Theres bound to be euro servers up by that time as well.

It'd be a struggle to route the Origin traffic through the VPN but not the games connection so Euro servers would be even worse, it'd involve a round trip from you to the the US then back to europe.
