Getting really excited now, more so for the single player and co-op at the moment, the BETA gave me a good fix of the mp for the time being. :-D

Typically any broadband will do, but 4-5mb+ with 512kb+ upload should result in a decent experience.

Don't need even that, I have 512kb connection and the Beta ran with no lag at all.

On my network meter it used 10-15kbs download, hardly anything at all.

Not looking forward to downloading the patch though.

Latency and Bandwidth are two different things.

True

I know just because it is 50MB doesn't mean I will get all the required available bandwith available to me.

Although I am not very much familiar with networking, afaik my broadband connection will also largerly depend on the servers which would potentially limit my speed and introduce latency.

To be honest I would shove a Core 2 Quad Q8400 in there first, it's £120

Then I would upgrade the graphics card to something like a 6870 for £130

A Core 2 Duo E8400 outperforms the Q8400 on games by a fair bit and can be had for 35-45 quid on Members market, so that would be a really stupid thing to do (although I'd recommend a quad for this game, so recommend you try looking for a second hand i5 750 for around 60 quid). Same for the card, for around the same price could get himself a second hand 6950, or for around 100 a 5870 which performs better than the 6870.

no idea how much bandwidth you'll actually need to play a game, don't imagine it will be much.

I got full 50Mbps on the Beta download.

I suspect what download speed you will get will depend on what time of day it is.

Wonder if the UK has separate content servers, or if we have to pull it down off EA's servers in the US.

Yeah theres no way the origin servers are going to be giving you 50Mb when everybody is hammering them for pre load.

Max i've had from Origin is around 4.6MB/s from re-downloading BFBC2 the other day. When the beta servers went up for BF3 it started out at 3.9MB/s and dropped down to around 3 ish, not bad when they were probably getting hammered then.
