True

I know just because it is 50MB doesn't mean I will get all the required available bandwith available to me.

Although I am not very much familiar with networking, afaik my broadband connection will also largerly depend on the servers which would potentially limit my speed and introduce latency.

Limited speeds don't necessarily mean high latency. Congestion/Faults are normally the cause of high latency.

You can happily have a 1Mbps connection with a low ping and experience no problems at all.

I wouldn't worry unless you have problems. :)

anybody remember when NTL cable was first around ?

You could get 256Kb cable and still get a <10ms ping on some servers.

Just over a week away!!!!

But on a bad note, recieved an email yesterday from the store I ordered BF3 from, saying that due to high demand, they are not 100% sure they can fulfill my sale!

I remember the raging screams of lpb :D

Anyway bandwidth and latency are not the only things that you need to worry about, jitter can also be an issue.

Ign are meant to have their review up tomorrow sometime, should be interesting as theyre renound for having a stiffy for COD to say the least.

Completely bored with all this stupid DLC this, Physical Warfare pack this, buy it from here get these maps that. Just pre ordered it online instead. I wanted to just go into town and buy it on release weekend but there seems no way to guarantee you'll actually get the whole game or just bits of it (I class the DLC as part of the game, after all all the servers will be running the extra maps).

What happened to just having a game.. and releasing it without all this bonus junk?

Well if EA want to do some serious damage to Activision, they could just reduce the price of BF3 to ~£10 less than MW3. Then EA get the cash for MW3, and people can still buy another copy of BF3 for less than MW3. That way for each gamer who is interested in buying both, EA get the cash twice, and Activision get 0 ;)

What?

Does anyone have any idea what is the minimum broadband size required to play multiplayer?

So I guess since I have virgin 50MB broadband, I don't need to worry about lagging/bottlenecking etc :p

Did you seriously think that a < 50mbit connection was required to play an online game? Or was it simply a "look at me, I've got 50mbit!" post?

am i right in thinking when i down load the game from origin it will come with the day one patch?

It does say that. However, the wording is not the best as it says that downloads from day 1 will include the patch but that doesn;t mean that preloading the game from tomorrow will include the patch.
