You do realise even if you buy a retail copy of BF3 on DVD it just loads the content into Origin to save you downloading it don't you ?

You'll need that Origin Account in order to play (unless you intend on creating another one)

That's why I'm going to try and resist buying it.

Resistance is futile.

Origin isn't that bad. In fact it's quicker and less cluttered than Steam. I'm not saying Origin will be replacing Steam anytime but it's not the bogeyman it's being touted to be. I will be the first guy to say BF3 should be on Steam and Origin's existence is completely unnecessary, but it is nowhere near as bad or intrusive as many make it out to be, and certainly isn't enough to dampen what would be an epic experience on BF3.

Your loss I guess!

May I enquire as to what issues you've had with it? Just sounds like you were really unlucky.

edit: Ah, you're the guy who had issues getting his account retrieved, yeah that's understandable that you want to avoid it. Sure you didn't just use the wrong email?

Basically they've deleted my account.

Positive. It isn't recognising any of my e-mails.

Well from reading your posts that sounds like an absolute nightmare and I don't really blame you at all for wanting to avoid it like the plague. That said, for every person who's had that sheer misfortune, there are thousands who get on just fine with it. I hope you get it all sorted eventually :)

I agree and whilst I really, really want to play BF3 I don't want to use Origin.

And yes there are many people who aren't having a problem but I am and so far the EA experience is woeful!

Add to that I had redeemed my SWTOR CD key on my now non-existent Origin account...brilliant.

I couldnt get into the beta due to origins ports being blocked by my university's ever so helpfull firewall as i cant download any games via origin and when i got past that problem i kept being disconnected from the match making service , do you think theres a chance the final product will use different ports ? I canceled my preorder but really want this game :(

Ouch. Have you thought about contacting one of the gaming news sites? I'm sure they'd love a chance to have a pop at EA Origin and, hopefully, it could facilitate an escalation of your problem so it gets noticed by some higher ups who could graciously recompense you - publicly of course ;) - for the awful time you've received from EA customer services.

Worth a shot no?

Robert, that's awful...but if it comes to it, just create a new Origin account rather than refuse to ever play BF3?! Sounds like cutting your nose off to spite your face. The redeemed and now disappeared CD key is another matter, you should not let that lie. They must have a record of your account somehow.
