*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Bit confused as to why you'd want to use that much bandwidth, time and effort just for the soundtrack? Do you guys not want any new experiences in game when it comes out? Data mining the beta, SRSLY? Am I the only one who thinks this is crazy? Of course you read up on the races/classes/areas etc to prepare for the release date but some of what I've seen here is a step too far IMO.

I don't feel that the soundtrack spoils the experience.

I have the ability to provide things like the entire subtitles for the voice over, all the voice overs and all the art work with model viewer. But i'm refusing to provide them.

I have only looked at and extracted the soundtrack.

But in the end, its you, the end users choice as to whether or not you download it and listen to it.

Same goes with the other information I've provided on this page, i've made them "spoiler friendly" so again its the end users choice to see what's there.

Well from what I have heard Swtor is quite instanced so PvP servers might not be as bad as they ar ein other games...

Well guys you can either pick the guild of the guy that has argued with a large amount of people in this thread, or join the OcUK guild with nice friendly people you know from on here. :p

The choice is yours guys.

OcUK Sith Empire guild
OcUK Republic guild

This.

erm argued with a large amount of people? its basically only being las snitch .. and it was a joke the comment about your guild name .. boy some people, this is about the 5/6th time you have have made some childish comment about me, most I just ignore.

Couldn't they just have an option where you choose if you want to become a PK, but you can't harm non-PK players?

So in effect you want all servers to be a PvE type server, because if you can choose not to be attacked then its a pve server.

Its funny how pve players always want the pvp players to fit there style but pvp players are quite happy for there to be PvE and separate PvP servers.

I was under the impression that the game content is so involving there was close to no pvp activity even on pvp servers? Sides, if you get camped, call your guildies to camp the camper ;)

Once you get passed Taris its very open and there is a lot of open world PvP, killed my first to Sith Players on Tatoonie, and saw plenty more, often you will find both factions in the same instance so at some times its gonna be wholesale slaughter!

I was on my first beta run very suspect about open world PvP but now in this run, its totally changed my mind Open world PvP is good in this game, in fact its very good and there is going to be a lot of it .. something we as a guild have being brilliant in in past games so looks good.

I take it PvE is the way to go if you're new to MMOs too?

Its choice and what you prefer, pve players don't like the fact that they could be killed at any time, but for me thats what adds to the game while you fighting a mass of mobs you still need to keep a eye peeled on the horizons for a opposition player who may well kill you when you almost got the mobs dead but are also low on health, for me its adds to the excitement of the game.

It takes no great tactics to beat any mob, be it in a raid or just normal mobs/boss all it takes is practice, its not the same with players you may meet the same class 5 times with different players each time who fight differently so its never quite the same.

I'm not saying that's how it should be, I was just wondering as I'm not very familiar with MMOs. So it sounds like PvE servers allow players to opt into PvP as well?

Correct. At least thats the way most other MMO's work, honestly no idea if swtor is the same but I'd assume it is.

erm not sure I pretty sure if you go PvE you can only then have PvP in the arenas, apologies if I misread/understand your original post.

If your new to MMO's I'd say PvE server, yeah PvP servers may be fun for some, but most find it annoying, even more so when you get max lvl players ganking people just for the fun of it

And incase anybody is wondering most of my chars on WoW are on PvP servers :)

Really considering a pre-order of this but my only issue is I love star wars so much I will be annoyed I bash someone over the head 10 times with a lightsaber to kill them when it would take 1 swipe in star wars! On the same note I would want to nerdrage whenever some trooper killed my jedi, unless you got a jump on a Jedi a trooper would be mincemeat in a star wars film!

Read a little more about the game though and it does sound ok.

Are there any public quests ala rift/war in this?

Its a great game, something I did not say 5/6 months ago and got jumped on by all the fanboi's but since I have being back in the beta, this game has changed significantly and it is now just short of brilliant.

It does not have the rift/war public type quests.

Mind you saying that it still needs a bit to make it a massive long term hit, and thats mostly on the social side.

You would not go wrong buying this game even if all you did was just play each class for its story line.

Can always do BG's though?, or whatever there called in SWTOR

Arenas = BG, and they are pretty good, only downside I don't like is that you cant choose the arena you want to do its que and pot luck, but that may be because its beta and not that many players.

I could never play on PvE servers again its like when leveling you losing 1/4 of the game and when you max level you missing half the game, its just adds bit more fun to the game when there is always that unknown quality.
Also the PvP amour in the game is better than any PvE of the same level (I only got to level 35 this build), so cant speak for anything above that but up till then it way way better than anything you could pick up or make, except maybe for the gold piecs that were modifiable, and even then it was a close thing with the PvP winning out for me each time on my toon.

But as I'm still in the beta so I will be playing the next build as well we will see, its pretty easy to get the PvP credits to buy the kit as you can make anything from 250 to 500 credits per match with each piece costing roughly 250 to 350 a item, I kept my PvP level the same as my leveling level the entire build.

Disapointing/annoying no public quests. They are a good feature that mmo's have started using.

Thanks for the feedback bud, better coming from an (ex) sceptic as well!

Just to confirm, there seems to be an arena type system in ToR's Files.

You can get area master armour, which apparently are not listed on vendors.

Pure speculation until you see it in game, but its in the files.

Arena's are different from BG's you know?

No worries. I guess what I was suggesting is some kind of mixed server where newbies would be protected from PKs but you could progress onto PvP at a later stage. I don't know if that exists.
