I like Tanner too - although he has a surname as his last name (so does Rutledge - what is it with these Americans!)

I really enjoyed the blind guy drifting piece!

A surname as his last name? What an absolute cad tricking people by using surnames in their correct place. :p

From a quick look it seems as if they'll simply be copying many of the challenges from the UK Top Gear and that's fair enough, you'd be a bit foolish to dismiss doing things in a similar way when it's part of what made the original so successful. At first glance I think the presenters are somewhat lacking in personality compared to the UK version which may be an issue but without watching more I couldn't say whether that snap judgement will prove to be fair.
 
First episode was a bit cringe worthy but 2nd one was a lot better.

Tanner Foust is a good choice IMO seems to fit the show naturally and is relatively interesting and obviously has enough driving talent to be credible.

Rutledge I could accept if he was in the James May kinda role as it is tho he just ruins the show.

The other guy is completely bland wouldn't miss him if he left at all, which is part of the problem kinda emphasises how bad a choice Rutledge is.
 
I just watched the 2nd one and thought it wasn't bad.

It is still just as staged as our one but as they're american it doesn't seem quite so cringe-worthy to me somehow.

I've seen some challenges they've done (not sure if they've been on in the UK yet) like the pickup truck one and that was really entertaining.

I do aggree that the new york guy is just annoying, but rutledge isnt too bad

When the scripting is so close it is cringe-worthy. I saw the US pilot version of Life on Mars. Almost word for word the same, and it was horrible.

It just doesn't work.
 
The Australian Top Gear worked because while they are a similar culture to us, they have differences enough to make it interesting. Like doing group tests of Utes and things.

Sounds like the USA version is a carbon copy with different presenters, which wont work because Jeremy Clarksons words only work when said by Jeremy Clarkson, etc.

Think I'll give it a miss.

Whats not to like about seeing how fast some lamborghini's go down a desert runway ? Thats essentially what the V Max event is anyway, and people love reading about that. People just hating on it because its american.
