*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Well its circulating the forums as "proof"

Who knows, we'll soon see.

As of now you can not, customization is extremely limited, but I'm still hoping that because its beta, no wrinkles no big beards 4 body types (tho no fat one for females PC gone mad)

As it is now I don't think I have played a MMO with less customization.

Its still a major gripe on all the forums.
Unfortunately I cant say more as lax will be reporting me again

Probably a stupid question, but if I decided to get this game a week or so after release would it still be possible to join the OcUK guild?
Depending how time consuming BF3/MW3 is probably the decider.

I would probably roll Sith.

I enjoyed PvP mainly from WoW (Arena's/BG's) so would prefer a PvP server anyway.

Most of the time the OCUK guilds are freely open to all forum members.

You've obviously had experience with other MMOs as well as TOR beta access. Would you mind elaborating on this? The pro's and con's as you see it? And how you imagine PvP would pan out in TOR?

From my personal experience, i find PvE servers to be more PvE focused. With the nature of PvE servers, i wont get corpse camped or ganked and i'm more likely to find like minded players.

On PvP servers, there is more of a focus on PvP, ganking and corpse camping. There is still a lot of PvE going on, but more around PvP. I also found PvP servers to have a heavy concentration of people with massive ego's and horrible attitudes due to the competitive nature of PvP servers.

One thing that used to annoy me about PvP servers in WoW was trying to do daily quests, gathering crafting materials and just trying to chill and do something to progress my character, it would take 3 times as long because of the ganking and corpse camping and if i only had an hour to play, i may as well not bother logging on and then i asked my self why am i paying for a game i can't play.

But as always this is my opinion and other people experience things differently, while my experience may be in the minority, it was enough to put me off playing on PvP servers ever again.

Wait PvE servers more PvE focused?? No never!

Corpse camping almost never happens, 1) it takes to long 2) you can res back in the town if you wanted.
If you had a few issue it would take you 3 times longer as I have almost only ever played PvP, (well except for a short stint in AoC where we had a guild on the PvP server as well).
PvP server add a bit of extra spice, most times you can quest and no one will touch you, if you getting ganked be in a decent guild where people want to help you.

Most of the excuse above are typically from a PvE player, who went PvP tried to get a few kills got his ass kicked then whined about it.

PvP servers add something that you can never get on PvE serves, that extra bit of excitement, but more than that if/when we go through a real guild on guild war, as a group you become closer, have more fun and seem to be willing to share/help more.

PvP servers are not for everyone and no PvP player would ever begrudge a PvE player wanting to roll on a PvE server, but its funny how almost every pve player resents there being PvP servers, and you only need to go read the forums where this is being discussed to see the truth of it.

Me I'm not really fussed as long as I can get a bit of open world PvP I'm happy.
As a guild we stick together you getting ganked and we come arunning! well unless you BW snitch ..then not :D.

I will add one thing I am not the best PvP'er average at best, but what I do have is a guild that will back me up... and thats all you need

That's an NPC right? they've made him look like that by updating it.
Plus, in the sept(or was it early oct) weekender, there were skin tones or another option that added a dark side like appearence, wrinkles(age), black baggy eyes and dark veins showing, and this was me fiddling with a jedi knight so I know what I want to look like in live.

Extremely limited is all subjective, it has more than some mmo's, less than others. There were wrinkles and big beards (chops/moustache and beard at once too!)

Have to say having watched a few of the pvp focussed youtube videos I'm really really tempted to give this a shot. Daoc / UO / WAR pvp it may not be but it sure looks like a blast

I don't understand, why create another guild when Matt has worked hard to try get people to join the OCUK one?? Yes not the best name, but at the end of the day, you and your 3 friends will increase the numbers to the ocuk one.

just a question!

I've not created another one to undermine Matt - I made one with my mates before Beyond The Clock was even discussed and because the OcUK one is Sith/PvP gave people the option to join mine if they like as it's Republic PvE - Matt himself suggested those wanting PvE to create their own??

...

Why don't you start one? There are people on here who have been requesting a PvE guild and the idea isn't going to get anywhere if nobody takes the lead.

If you do start one up then post the link in here for others to join. Also feel free to use the name "Beyond the Clock" and use the forum that I linked earlier.

No m8 it is extremely limited yes you may see NPC with wrinkles but never players, just no choice. 4 body size, about 10 hair colors, think the only slider that had a lot of choice was the scar's and the makeup, the rest are very very limited, but then this is still beta so we will see.

I just had a quick look at the thread on this subject in the tester forums, and there is not one post where players are staisfied, may be subjective if it was like 50/50 or even 80/20 but its pretty much 100/0.

But as I said this is beta, so may see a lot more in the released version, tho don't think we will ever get wrinkles well not for any Jedi, trooper class as when you start you supposed to be a very young un thats impressed so being pushed ahead. In both those classes your trainer mentions how young you are to be where you are.

Waiting on new build right now, so will see if anything changes as I guess the next one will most likely be the last one we will see, which I think is maybe still 2/3 builds behind the main one.

Its very much WaR type PvP and done pretty well (still surprised I'm saying that :D) ..and yeah like Daoc as well.

If People go back 80+ pages they will see I was very scathing about this game then, but as the builds have progressed this game has improved unbelievably well (so much so people will think I was lying)
Its because I had a pop at the game that laxy the snitch carries on about me as he did :p.

But now its a decent game more so once you get passed Taris (or get to Tatoonie)
