I really hope they add proper backwards compatibility this time round.
They will probably just let you buy all the old games again from the online store.

I'll tell you now, most games of the next generation will not have 60fps, will not have 16x af and will not have more than 4xAA.
I'm willing to bet that 95% of the people that own a 360 or a PS3 couldn't tell you what was different between 30 and 60fps if they saw it on the screen.
That just about sums up my needs for the PC tooThe only thing I want is better physics, much better textures with nary a blocky pixel in sight and better AI.
Think about it - PS1/CD, PS2/DVD, PS3/Bluray...
TBH if they don't I reckon it won't feel like a real, worthwhile upgrade.
New Xbox will be shown at E3 2013 with a release end of 2013. This was confirmed a few days ago I believe as I saw it on IGN.
Source?
And Confirmed and IGN should never be used in the same sentence sadly. Just the other day they had an article about how much better the Vita will sell over the 3DS and how it is the saviour of handheld gaming because it has more power and so on. They said EXACTLY the same thing about the PSP v DS and are getting rightfully mocked about the article across the web.
And look at the Vita thread we have, I'm probably the most hyped guy here for it and I think they were talking out of their ass.
Don't know why you need the link as the site was specified so easy to search and you hold no regard for their stories but here ya go...

Develop has heard from multiple industry sources, including chip manufacturers and middleware firms, that the console's reveal will come at E3 2013, with a late 2013 launch to follow.
For now, all of these are rumors, and Microsoft has declined to comment on any of them.
Dont think we are going to see a massive improvement on loading times with BD, unless the next PS lets you fully install games on HDD - but considering finite HDD space and multiple games I dont think thats an easy challenge, might mean developers are forced to compress assets irrelevant of BD size if the image has to sit on the HDD too...
Id like the ability to run two screens off one console and finally get rid of poor mans gaming, split screen![]()
If 120hz TV's take off then you can have 2 players having full screens on one TV.
As others have mentioned consoles are about gameplay rather than graphics.
I am more annoyed at games (yes PS3 I mean you) that aren't even 720p and/or with crap loading times. GT5 just makes the PS3 feel like an old computer with such sluggish loading between menus and such long loading times.
I think 2013 we will see the new Xbox and Playstation. I think the Wii will be sooner but I couldn't care less about that.
