*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I so cant wait for this game, ill be putting in an unhealthy amount of hours in:p

You and a gazillion others, think this could be one of those rare times when a MMO breaks the box selling record, I can see a huge amount of people buying it, trick is to keep them.

And even after all the good things I have said these are still a few big problems for them to get around.

Plus I think there famed VO, will not be quite the crowd pleaser they think, fine for the first 50 quests, but then... not for all but I think a lot of people may find it annoying and very slow.

One thing I find a lot of people miss, is that you can not level to 50 just doing your class story quest.

I think they have added quite a bit more class story questing but its still only at the very best be 30/40% of your leveling.

So that puts it at about 60/70 are generic quests, so you will do the same quest over with each toon you level, so you will hear the same conversations over and over.

And yes while you can space bar to miss it, that will cost you social points(you get them from conversations, heads up for peeps, if you do it single you get one point each conversation, do it with 2 and you get 3 points if you win the roll, one if you don't, do with 3 and its 6 points, 4 and its 8 points).

So it pays to group, for all quests.

I'm not entirely sure what is going to happen, clearly very few people on these forums want to play Republic PvP so I think I might just disband the OcUK Republic guild. If you want to play Republic PvP then join the Immortals if you want to play Republic PvE then there is one set up I believe that you can join(I think the link is on the previous page). Or you could switch to the Sith and join Black Sun Pirates, the choice is yours mate.

It's a shame because there was a fairly balanced split between Republic and Sith on the forums before we could set up guilds however everybody seems to have switched over to the dark side of the force...And I guess I'l have to follow them.

Ain't it the case that currently you cannot apply to more than one guild at a time? I thought this was the reason why so few Republic applications went in (most decided to roll their mains on the Empire side)?

What? why?

I never heard/saw this, all spacebar did was skip ahead (not miss) the dialogue to the next part, or to the response wheel, just because I can read the subtitles quicker doesn't mean I should get penalised for it. In the end I still needed to pick an answer to progress.

Unless there's some backwards system they implemented or you're not explaining yourself properly, could you expand?

The way I interpreted it was that you have to make a dialogue selection to earn light side or dark side social points. So if you skip ahead then I guess you will miss out on that.

Im not in beta though so Im not 100% sure.

Wab: You've provided a lot of useful information about this game so I like reading your posts, but just copy LateX'dog and use your ignore button; you're acting like an eight year old the way you keep on about this alleged narking.

re: the server type, I prefer the extra thrill of a PvP server but it also comes with the price that I get extremely frustrated when I need to pop off to see to the kids, wife etc, and come back to find my corpse has been defiled - and not in a good way.

Hehe, teabagging was extremely popular in SWG.

That doesn't sound right - when I was in the beta, you could skip the dialogue, but it would always stop at the lightside/darkside decision wheel until a decision was made

You can skip and still earn points; as you still select an option; however if your in a group and you skip - you'll just see "Waiting for Party" with the NPC standing their waiting also lol - unless they skip to obviously!

You only actually earn the LS/DS stuff when you cash in the mission i believe anyway; and you can press Esc during convo's to restart them if you wish... sometimes good to find out which conversation route gives most LS/DS and companion affection

The only reason the Guild process was set up so guilds on launch would have an easier time. If everybody is going to be rolling their alts into the Republic guild then there is no point setting it up currently as it isn't needed at launch.

If a Republic guild is needed after launch then we will sort that out, but for the time being it isn't needed so I'll close it down soon.

I know we have a roster for BSP, but does anyone have a rough idea of what direction - AC wise - they're going to be taking their characters? Be handy to know who'll be the tanks and healers.

I created a poll on the Guild forum but very few people have answered it. It would be good if more people could join in so we could get some rough numbers ahead of release.

EDIT: A series of Beta videos on Youtube for the Jedi Knight:
Class And Race Preview
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

If you look at the uploaders channel you can see it goes upto part 12, so loads of gameplay.

PvP servers add something that you can never get on PvE serves, that extra bit of excitement.

It also adds frustrations and annoyance. I don’t see how being ganked can ever be fun. The whole thing often very unbalanced, eg high level picking on lowbies or one class picking on another they know they can beat. Almost no one picks a fair fight.

PvP servers are not for everyone and no PvP player would ever begrudge a PvE player wanting to roll on a PvE server, but its funny how almost every pve player resents there being PvP servers, and you only need to go read the forums where this is being discussed to see the truth of it.

Why would some one who plays on a PvE server resent there being PvP ones? What difference does it make to them? Off all the years I played MMOs I’ve never heard people say such things.

Oh and I always play on PvE servers but I’m very much a PvP player. Got PVP rank 10 in WoW (That old school massive grinding), done 1000s of battlegrounds and turned up for the open world PvP events all the time. All those things are consensual and it’s the mass PvP I like. The 1v1 ganking I can’t stand, as it’s generally stupid, pointless and completely one sided affair.

For the slow, if you space bar and miss the conversation you do not get social points, if you space bar out and miss the conversation you do not get social points, if you hit space bar during conversations you do not get social point, using space bar during a conversation will cost you social point.

Don't see how else I can explain that.

and the main reason for this, for the extremely slow ... time sink...

Wow, so they punish you for not sitting and listening to their voiceover?

"How DARE you! We spent millions on those voiceovers and you'll damn well sit there and enjoy them!"

I'm sorry, you lost me at 'For'.

Do you think you could go through the process again, using layman's language and trying to describe it for those not versed with the game already?
