It also adds frustrations and annoyance. I don’t see how being ganked can ever be fun. The whole thing often very unbalanced, eg high level picking on lowbies or one class picking on another they know they can beat. Almost no one picks a fair fight.

Why would some one who plays on a PvE server resent there being PvP ones? What difference does it make to them? Off all the years I played MMOs I’ve never heard people say such things.

Oh and I always play on PvE servers but I’m very much a PvP player. Got PVP rank 10 in WoW (That old school massive grinding), done 1000s of battlegrounds and turned up for the open world PvP events all the time. All those things are consensual and it’s the mass PvP I like. The 1v1 ganking I can’t stand, as it’s generally stupid, pointless and completely one sided affair.

To be fair Ive seen lots of moaning about PvP even being in WoW at all, in the Raid & Dungeon forums. Particularly at patch time.

Agree with your sentiments about PvP otherwise.

Wow, so they punish you for not sitting and listening to their voiceover?

"How DARE you! We spent millions on those voiceovers and you'll damn well sit there and enjoy them!"

No not at all.

When i took part in the weekend beta, i skipped solo questing conversations and i never lost out on social points.

Social points are gained for taking part in group conversations and not solo conversations.

There is actually an option in the settings menu to automatically skip conversation dialogue.

The way I interpreted it was that you have to make a dialogue selection to earn light side or dark side social points. So if you skip ahead then I guess you will miss out on that.

Im not in beta though so Im not 100% sure.

light and dark points are not the same as the social points.

Social points for going through a entire conversation
Light dark points are for what you choose.

When you look at your toon(by pressing C)
There are 2 things you see in regards to social points
A vertical bar 50/50 red or white( red bad/white good), so you make you choice and it that 50/50 changes to what ever decision you made, say it was good you get maybe 40 points light, so now you 0/40 etc

Then below that you have another bar sitting at 0, this is your social bar you get well I only got to social 2.8 I think, this goes up with each conversation you fully and that means no SPACE BAR listen to.

I will say I have not checked that if you space bar to each decision you still get the points, but I'm 80% sure you don't.
And you can pick up and get other rewards if you do get a good amount of social points, and the only way to get that is in a group, My social from 0 to level 2.6 I got leveling my toon 0 to 13 I played just with a buddy, from 13 I pretty much leveled alone but still painfully listened to every conversation, to pretty much level 35 and my scoal changed from roughly 2.6 to 2.8.

So light and dark points are not the same as social points, not sure if the one even impacts on the other, I don't think so.

Why would they reset it? something I have wondered about, I mean if anyone actually want to know the truth all they have to do is look on the swtor forums, about when this has come up and how many 1000 & 1000 of posts.

I think its got a bit to do with players not wanting anyone else to have what they don't even want, not all but a large %.

Just made a post on a beta forum about the conversation dialogue when solo questing.

You do NOT receive social points when solo questing. You only get social points when engaged in multiplayer conversation.

Yea I am still waiting to hear back on that.

:D

Pre-ordering never actually got you into beta. The earlier you pre-ordered from the announcement, the more early access time you got as it's on a - first come first served - basis.

Beta is reserved for the lucky few *mumble grumble*

That's what I thought, when I first played I listened to the dialogue fully, but when it was NPC's having a monologue with looong animations that took a while before the wheel came up, I started pressing space.

I even pressed spacebar during my second, third + Black Talon run and still won rolls for social points (8).

Which brings me on to a second topic:
Does running flashpoints a second(or more) time inihibit your potential to win a roll? Or being a few levels higher than everyone?

Because it felt like the more I did it(to do it with friends etc, or some commendations/specific loot) I kept getting really low rolls, whilst some guys actually got 99/100 4 times in a row, to the point I sat there like "really...really!?" Yes it's random, but it felt random to the point I'd randomly roll LOW. :p

Few bad runs I guess!

:D

Everyone I know personally (8) who are in it, had a beta account given to them on their account that never pre-ordered the game.
I'm not sure if they actively try to do that to get more people to buy the game or not, I wouldn't blame them.

Yeah, I've long heard that could be the situation (people non-plussed about the game getting beta invites) and as I ordered the game about 20 mins after they put it up for pre-ordering, and entered myself the day beta applications went up, I guess I've shown that I'm willing to drop my gruds and let Bioware take me dry :(

Wow, if that rumour had spread early enough it could have ruined them, as legions of rabid fans resolutely avoided pre-ordering in the hopes of getting a beta invite D

I wouldn't say it would have "ruined" them. Yes many people desperate for beta wouldn't have pre-ordered but those more interested in getting a bigger headstart would have still pre-ordered in the first hour of it being put on the site.

Isn't that obvious? You only get social points if you socialise? lol

Love the edit by ThundyCat, good job :)
