Which site have you had the best experience with when Pre Ordering?

Everyone will have different experiences but I've always found Amazon to be great with everything. I always buy my games, music and movies through them, never had a problem with the delivery, sometimes it's even a few days early.

Amazon.

Only problem arrived when ****tylink were delivering things. Terrible service.

I would just like to say that Play.com always used to be the best. Very cheap and always delivered before release date. Until the past couple of years they become too big and rubbish. I used them from 2002 and some games I used to get 3 days before launch. Half Life 2, Doom 3 etc just to name a few but then they really went down hill. I ended up sending forza 3 back because it was late.

I use GAME now and whilst they are expensive they pretty much always send games early and you get the best pre-order bonus

Shopto and Gamestop are very good for getting pre-orders out early.
I got Gears 3 from gamestop and it came on the monday(the release day was a tuesday) and if i'd have paid for express delivery i'd have got it the saturday before it came out.

Tesco

I used them originally as I get discount due to a family member working there, but not only that Black Ops came a day early last year and FIFA 12 came two days early this year. Really happy with their service.

I've always used Amazon myself as I always have a tonne of vouchers to uses. They nearly always reduce the price from the time I order to the release day saving me around £5 each time. And their Free delivery has always arrived on time.

However, the last couple have not - it seems they have finally caught on that nobody was paying for delivery as free postage got it for release day anyway. Shame really. But still, i can't see why i'd ever be bothered waiting a few days after a game is released. I'd never be that desperate to play something!!

I've also used shopto.net a few times on the odd occasion I ran out of Amazon vouchers and they have got here a day early every time.
Prices are competative, but never seem to match Amazon - plus i don't care if Amazon were rubbish, I get 95% of things free from them so it'd take a lot to get me to switch. lol

Speaking of shopto, I got the following notice on my account this morning:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your pre order of Uncharted 3 Drakes Deception! We are happy to inform you we will be processing pre orders from the evening of Thursday October 27th (TONIGHT) and dispatching Monday October 31st by Royal Mail. If you have ordered with TNT courier service your order will be dispatched Tuesday November 1st.

If you wish to amend your delivery details, billing information or cancel your pre order please do so as soon as possible. Once your pre order has been put through to processing we will unfortunately be unable to action any updates for you.

Hopefully any Royal Mail orders will arrive on 1st Nov (one day early?), unlucky for TNT orders though (although they still get it on the day of release).

Out of interest (I didn't want to start a new thread), Battlefield 3 has arrived today (shopto) is it ok to go online and start playing it today?

Providing the servers are up then I can't see any reason why not. You got the game in a legit way it just happened to arrive early.

It's not a given that you will get it the day before with Shopto standard delivery though. Just as an example, I ordered Battlefield months ago and it hasn't arrived today.

That said, I've been using Shopto for just over a year now and don't really consider anyone else unless there is a specific exclusive that would force me to buy elsewhere.

I previously used to use Gameplay and they were quite good. However, while Game has owned them for sometime, it was only in recent years that I believe they more closely integrated it into the regular Game business. I then found that prices weren't as competitive anymore and deliveries weren't coming early or even on release day sometimes.

So far with Shopto I've had everything except one game (I think it was Portal 2) come on release day and a few have come the day before.

You must be a bit unlucky (especially given your location is London!). Generally shopto post stuff a couple of days early and I usually get the item the day after it has been posted. I think I have only had 1 or 2 exceptions in 30 or so orders. This is with Royal Mail 1st class (or 1st class recorded).
