Hard Drive Pricing going up at an alarming rate!!!!

So glad I bought my hard drives last week. They were cheap as chips. Just setting an unraid NAS up now. Cant wait to get it running so I can get my blurays transferred on to it.

This is getting silly now

:D

I'll take all 5. Free delivery? Even better.

Ordered 10TB over 5 F4's 2 months back and was beginning to think I'd overdone it a bit at £45 each. Holy **** I am so glad now.

I've found somewhere selling Samsung 1TB's for less than £49 :D, with delivery still less than £57 :), business to business reseller though :(.

No disrespect mate but read what it says when you select this method of supply!

"Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months."

Anyone else want to try?

Colleague noticed this, assuming it's a mistake on Amazons part.

I tried to select this form of packaging and it came up as "no stock".
But quite happily took my money for "traditional packaging". Order now dispatched.

Looked at one way, I still think around the £70 mark isn't bad for 1TB of storage. It's just that we've sort of got used to paying silly money (IE. dirt cheap) for HD's. Not that I object to things being cheap and I rather hope that at some point supply and demand will drive the prices back down. Luckily I don't need to buy that many HD's myself. Though I feel the pain for those that do.

Jesus, I never thought anything of this thread until I've just noticed that the other day I paid £77 Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB, now it is £149.99.

:O

Good thing I upgraded just the other week with a set of new hdds. I actually have some 500gb and 1tb drives that I thought were worthless kicking about  They are all going straight to the auction site at the weekend!

I only picked up on this thread a couple of days ago, thinking I needed a new 1TB drive, and glad I did!

I managed to find a 1TB Samsung F3 for £59 all in, but notice the same drive from the same place is now £93... That's just in 2 days.

Ah well, won't need another for a while fortunately ....

Yes its getting mad as I said earlier I bought 2TB HDD from a well known site at £70, and checked later went up to £90. Reckon it will keep rising just like the others. At least I bought it earlier for a decent price.

I know how you feel, the other half got sick of me moaning that they was going up as i didn't plan on getting them till next year that she told me to buy them and so glad i did when i did

Its more the budget end of the market which has been hit the hardest, been trying to spec up a budget PC for my girlfriends younger brother in time for xmas, when you have a £300 budget and a hard drive used to take up just 10% of that (for a 500GB) it was ok, now spending 1/4 - 1/3 of your budget on a HDD is really restricting the rest of the system options :(
