Should people on the dole have sky HD?

Why not direct your bitterness towards the government who allow all this to happen? You've also undermined your rant by suggesting that your income tax and NI all go to people on benefits and nothing else.

Considering that a report was recently published stating that welfare payouts outstrips income tax proceeds then that's a fair argument, is it not?

True but when she's on benefits paid for by people who can't afford it themselves something is a little ****ed up !

How do you know what is being sacrificed elsewhere to pay for it?

SKY HD is available from £30.25 a month. That is only £7.56 a week in a four week month.

What else can you get for that money? Would you begrudge someone on the dole a single ticket a week to the cinema (without snacks)? What about two pints in the pub?

Do you really think people on the dole should be given just enough to feed themselves and keep warm?

About a quarter (last I checked) of those welfare payouts go to people with jobs as tax credits, maternity leave etc.

-edit- probably more than a quarter actually since you don't need to be unemployed to receive housing benefit or child support.

Sky is an expensive luxury.

Whilst I don't think anyone should be denied the choice to spend the money how they want to, it's still an expensive luxury that a great deal of people can't afford.

That such a high proportion of the lower class have Sky subscriptions shows something wrong with our society and the way benefits are dished out (not that we didn't know about that already for other reasons.

Yeah it is stupid, my mum works full time and we can't afford it... So why should some lazy mother like that be able to?

I find that hard to believe. I think it is far more likely that your mother simply chooses to spend her money on more sensible things that she isn't willing to sacrifice for SKY.

Child benefit is not means tested and is available to everyone with children. Perhaps you are trying to moan about some other benefits?

Perhaps, perhaps someone has given her a couple spare sky boxes and she has saved up her spare ££ each week to pay for freesat to be installed so her kids can watch cbeebies, and she can broaden her horizons by watching BBC news instead of Loose women.

Calm the rage down.

Oooh, I like this game. Perhaps she has just won the lottery and is now a secret millionaire so its all irrelevant. That or she is getting more money than she should be. Which is more likely.

Thank you!! I learned this the hard way, when I only had £10-15 to spend on food, and I quickly learned how to be savvy with it and cheaper brands and stores are not to be dismissed! Now I can easily feed myself on £10 or less a week, with added extras of crisps and maybe a naughty chocolate bar!

Are you available for marriage?

My gf won't spend less then 125-200 a week.

Perhaps she is a child trafficker? Earning millions, and being a single unemployed mum on benefits as a disguise...

Ooh I like that, makes her a scumbag as well as a benefits scrounger. Oooh, it has Jeremy Kyle written all over it.
