Surprised they're stating 32 bit is ok with the recommended settings and asking for 4gb ram. Is there actually going to be a 64 bit exe though?

Should be ok for the majority of gamers on here, anyone any experience with the skyrim games ? this is my first 1 on the pc, what about the developers i hope they are commited to the pc gamers and they dont give us a shoddy console port !

Big Skyrim thread here :)

As for the developers, it is Bethesda... except game breaking / really bad bags, non optimised coding and crashing to desktop for a week or two as is the norm with their games :P at least until the community at tesnexus.com fixes it within a week or Bethesda gets an official patch out within a month. Their games tend to be very good though I think most people overlook the fact they push games out the door even if they needed another week or two.

Errr? You mean the 'The Elder Scrolls' games. Bethesda aren't that committed to PC but luckily the modding community are :D

and asking for 4gb ram.

People who think they need more than 4gb of RAM = lol? Maybe a bit like that guy who needs to play games over 60fps? Obviously in the best interest for places like OcUK to have people think that they need it, but is it necessary? No. Even less so than having 2 or more graphic cards in a setup.

Pretty sure he's on about that they said 32 bit is okay and 4GB ram, using both = max memory of about 3.25GB. But yeah 4GB is generally enough for any game assuming you haven't got like Firefox and 20 tabs with Photoshop open in the background.

Whut? I'm not even sure what you mean. What have dual card setups or OcUK's interests got to do with my post? How can you be so defiantly sure that 4gb ram isn't necessary when the game isn't even out....

You can't address 4gb of Ram on a 32 bit OS. Saying that a 32 bit OS is OK to use, but 4gb of Ram is recommended is contradictory.

Oh right i see what he ment now.

Who cares Ram is dirt cheap and tests have shown that 4 GB has shown some weakness in places.

Plus if oblivion is anything to go by, Ram is the most important element half the time (Silly memory mismanagement causing all kinds of havoc).

This low disk requirement is worrying, in my opinion.

6GB to store the amazing looking visuals, lengthy campaign and sub quests, better acting then the last one (hopefully) and a massive RPG world(hopefully)....

To put this into perspective, anyone who has heard of Grey Matter, for example, a short very average if not below average looking adventure game, takes up 5.5GB.

F1 2010 7.5GB
Resident Evil 5 7GB

If I remember correctly, I think GTA IV takes up something like 16GB.

Can't remember the spec for Oblivion.

Maybe it's just me, but unless this should be 16GB, I'm concerned, or maybe I'll be amazed as to how they did it(hopefully).

Yeah but Rage is 22GB~ and look at that. Plus from the videos and screenshots of Skyrim I don't think there's anything to really worry about :)

I hope so, I don't want to fart about completing mediocre games until December 22nd, when I become a Bounty Hunter!

No there isnt, the game will only have a 32 bit exe, no official 64 bit support on the PC.

Which is going to be terribad for mods.

Heh. I do see what you mean though, such as if someone had of asked me what I thought the installation size of Skyrim was I'd be saying about 12GB not 6GB, but I guess they have packed it all in nicely. Also yeah, roll on SWTOR!

You sure about this? PS3 version here I come if this is the case...

100% sure, confirmed by the developers and posted all over the official and steam forums.

Its also only a DX9 game, with DX11 mode on the PC being used only for performance optimizations.

However the vanilla game will still have higher quality settings on the PC compared to consoles, but TES V isnt going to be pushing hardware limits anywhere near as much as Oblivion did.

the back of the oblivion box states 4.6 gigs. i think they get away with such low disk space by constantly re-using the same textures and stuff? like oblivion, yeah it was big but most of it was miles of forests that looked the same, dungeons that looked the same and towns/interiors that looked the same.
