Kill - do me a favour, when this starts getting a better experience, let me know - tempted to pick it up, but honestly dont want to be annoyed by yet another EA release that has been badly supported/thought-out. Kinda already had enough of it from FIFA 12...

Something like an FPS lives and breathes on server support - really would like to smash my tiny PS3 keyboard into EAs face...

Wall of text ahoy. :p

It's still an enjoyable experience, but only with friends. If I had to play this on my own for any length of time I'd probably end up sticking the disk in the microwave or something, the bugs, glitches and crap servers are so annoying. I'm not sure what the general consensus is on this game, I've only read the last few pages but my thoughts based on around 7 hours of online, completion of the first two campaign missions on Hard and completion of the first 5 co-op missions on Hard:
  • Graphics

The graphics seem to vary wildly, the smoke effects are jaw dropping, probably the best I've seen on a console but then the game falls arse backwards in other simple areas. The textures aren't particularly great and the models seem to be really low detail. I know you have to make some sacrifices in this department when you have a game of this scale on a console but the difference in quality between the PC and the consoles is massive, absolutely massive, it looks like a completely different game on PC and this might be overly harsh but the quality and the detail in this game feels like a step BACKWARD from BFBC2.

  • Destructible Environments

Where are they? Honestly, in BFBC2 if someone is hiding in a building I blow the walls off, if I'm stuck inside and need to escape I can blow the door up, or blow a hole in the wall, it seemed like the vast majority of buildings and other man made objects can be destroyed. In this it feels like there's a few random houses and sheds that can be blown up and that's it. I guess that there has to be some buildings which need to be left standing, but at least let us blow the walls off, even if you won't let us level the building completely.

  • Sound

Fair play, the sound is great, the voices are fantastic and add a bit of urgency when you're fighting, losing and need to start capping control points the game does a good job of making that urgency felt. The yells from other players are pretty good too, the guns sound great, the vehicle engines sound decent enough as well. The sound is probably the best thing about this game so far for me.

  • Servers

The servers are pretty pathetic at the moment it has to be said. Now I now somebody will come in and say that they don't have any problems with lag, well that's great for you but so far the lag has ranged from slightly problematic to annoying as ****. There's nothing worse than knowing you've hit someone numerous times, only for them to shoot you once and drop you. It just feels totally unfair, as if you're shooting Smarties at them and they've got 50.cal rounds. Like I said earlier, throwing the medi packs and the ammo boxes is one of the most infuriating things, watching it leave your hands like 3 or 4 times before it finally hits the floor, or watching someone fly past you at 200mph and then come to a standstill before appearing behind you.

  • Bugs/glitches

There's quite a few of them, I can't remember all the ones I've experienced right now, but I'm sure I will later on. I've had one where I've been unable to spawn, I've chosen a class and a spawn point but pressing X on any of them never lets me spawn, I had to leave the game and join another one.

I've had another bug where my crosshair kept disappearing, if I switched from my primary to my secondary it would briefly appear but then quickly disappear, switching guns would bring it back again but only for a second or so before disappearing.

Half the time I can't get into the "My Soldier" to check my stats or customize my loadouts, sometimes I press start to bring up my friends from the main menu and the game just hangs for a while until I press start again and it just disappears.

Tanks and other vehicles get stuck on seemingly innocuous objects, I had my T-90 get stuck on a fallen tree branch for instance, I mean what the ****, seriously?

That said the game is still fun to play with friends, there's nothing better than seeing you and your mate at the top of the leaderboard knowing that it's because you worked as a team, or turning your teams fortunes around after going and taking all of the control points and holding them from the enemy. I'd hate to play it by myself for any length of time though, not until they iron the bugs out and make the servers better. Fun with friends but I'd probably avoid it for the time being if I had no other people to play it with.

I unluckily read the worst game thread before your post - kinda leaves me meh - so far this year the only games Ive really enjoyed have mainly be SP ones and KZ3 MP...

I really wanted to get this on the PC but I dont have the want to upgrade my PC anymore. Think Ill reinvestigate once MW3 is out to see a more balanced opinion. I really miss games like Quake 3 where it far more relied on skill than pulling a rabbit out of a hat...

No problem. The only thing I would say is that MW3 is purely a shooter, you need to be half decent at shooting people and that's what the game is all about. With BF3 it's more about being a good team, nobody needs to be individually amazing, but if your team is organised you can usually destroy the other side even if they've got a Rambo player on their team.

With CoD it's sort of the opposite, you can have one person absolutely dominating the other team in public games, clan battles are obviously completely different as everyone will have some degree of skill so the communication side is more important, but for public matches in CoD you can own the other side and single handedly win games if you're half decent.

I'll be picking up MW3 as well, I always enjoy the CoD games, I look forward to the challenge of Veteran on single player and then when I've done that the multiplayer is usually really solid too. People can say what they like about Activision, but MW3 will no doubt have a really slick multiplayer and I don't imagine it will have half as many bugs, glitches and poor servers as BF3 does.

Have been playing this game through the weekend on and off, I loved BC2, but there's something not quite right on the Singleplayer side of things. I'm no COD / BF fanboy, but I kind of get the feeling that the singleplayer is just trying too hard to be an epic story-style game like the modern warfare games, which do it incredibly well (however cheesy!).

Multiplayer is pretty good, not got the hang of helicopters yet, but I'm enjoying it, I'll end up coming back to this after MW3 I think.

Lvl 20 now. Loving the UMP-45 as I did in BC2. About 19k away from the G36C which, fingers crossed, will be as much fun as it was in BF2. I like the way the unlock system works.

I will be playing this for ages. No interest in MW3 as an MP experience.

Spent 6 hours on Co-op today, grinding for all of the extra unlocks. Feel like utter crap from overdosing on tea, cigarettes and Xbox. Well worth it though :D

well, im loving the single player story mode. the bombing mission from an F-18 was amazing !

finding the online mode very awkward to get used to though. seems as if the maps are slightly too large and the sheer number of enemies makes it difficult to stay alive for a long time and get a good streak going

OMG I never knew that 'bot' thing can also have a gun on it. Just got killed by it twice. (That remote controlled vehicle) Never thought to even look for it.

Saw it today on my friends computer and it looks very different. A lot better.

But I prefer games on consoles these days, prefer the comfort of my sofa.

But I really thought this would be like BC2 where as the poster above mentioned, you can blow buildings etc up all over the place. I just get the feeling the console version is not as polished as I thought it would be. I am not as impressed with it as I thought I would be.

I loved BC1 & BC2 and thought/hoped this would be the next step forward.

Do not get me wrong. I do enjoy the game. I just thought it would be better.

The EOD bot. I've only seen it in operation once and it scared the living daylights out of me when it rolled up. You can also arm/disarm the MCOM stations with it apparently.

25,000 points on engineer to unlock.

I can't get on MP at the minute. Getting 'Failed to connect to EA online'. Anyone else having problems?

Maybe I'm just unlucky but of several attempts I've managed to get two short games of Squad Deathmatch, not the mode I wanted to play but it seems to be a take what you can get approach to getting in a game at the moment.

I hate to be the whinger but... I get 30 minutes normally to play a game, an hour if I'm lucky. To have my small amounts of "play" time eroded away with crap servers AFTER a public beta test showed that they weren't up to the job leaves me rather cheesed off.

If they don't sort these issues in the next 9 days they could well have done a very good job of killing their own game (and any revenue from the barrage of download pack I'm sure they have in the bag) stone dead.

Thankfully I got it for a good price so a trade in for MW3 would leave me about square money wise.
