Having nothing by trouble with the BF3 launch drivers. Stuttering, crashing and I just think that the card is more capable than what I'm currently putting up with.

Very frustrating, hope they bring out some new drivers soon...

So render.perfoverlayvisible graph.

Euhm, are you sure people are reading this right, as according to other sources my CPU is the bottleneck. All I can see is yellow, cannot even SEE green but I run a 2600k @ 4.5Ghz and get a solid 50 FPS.

My GTX285 is the weak link but surely this should show on the graph? even if I put my settings to stupid and have 25 FPS I still only see yellow?

Loving the infrared scope. Find it's too easy with it though.

Also just had to quit a game because of this....

Took damage and then everything went blackish and lost all the text on the screen?

I had that the other day, lost all text but the screen didn't go black. Even pressing escape didn't bring up the game menu so I had to alt+tab out.

This is taking the mick.

I remember when Empire Total War came out with compulsory Steam install and I was thinking what a POS bit of software, but Origin seriously takes the biscuit/cake/insert your chosen bakery produce

Played fine yesterday, but I tried to enter a MP game this morning only to find that "Origin is not installed" blah blah blah. So I uninstall and install again, only to find theres a lovely 11.2 gb 'update' waiting for me.

Anyone else having to download an 'update'?

What an abysmal launch - real shame cos the game is awesome (although in the last 48 hours I have managed about 2 hours of game time)

This game was pretty good, until I switched to Hardcore servers.

Then it was AWESOME.

Please, consider switching the OCUK server to hardcore mode. Would love to play you guys but I also like having things die when I shoot them :)

thing is this is where gaming experience can help online

some are moaning at server problems and blaming game . some are blaming ea and it maybe a pb issue . or it maybe just that your pc isnt right .

yes there are issues but not too bad. serverside lag is pb ea backend and amount of crap going off with too many on 64 is a bit much for servers.

we will get newer ati and nvidia drivers will get pb updates and ea will do tweaks. i for one am very happy with the game.

I need some tips people! I haven't played any of the previous BF's but have played all of the UT and Quake games to a fairly decent level for a number of years so I'm no FPS nub. However, I'm shockingly bad at BF3. I can't tell where the enemies are (should I be using my map?) and I'm not really clear on what the 4 different roles do, or rather how they should be played.

Anywayone have advice for me? Cheers.

The single best piece of advice i can give is to play with a good squad. For me this has meant plying on the ocuk/TFU/Bronken servers with some of the regulars from here(as none of my mates have good gaming PC's) and the games where i have, have been fantastic!. Really good teamwork which hasd made a massive difference.

I am going to jump on the ocuk server now, but be warned, i am very ****ed, so stay clear!:p

Oh my heart bleeds.

The beta was a far better experience than this and there are two reasons for that. The beta was 32 players max and a map with very small outdoor areas.

As it stands at the moment servers and/or the game code are not capable of running 64 players.
In the last few days of the beta. I played on caspian border, it was as smooth as silk, in the full release its not near the same, and it doesnt look any different.

There have been two patches, a 470MB update that you had to download as soon as the game was installed and another smaller one, plus Battlelog updates. Then we've had an Alpha and Beta test, DICE have had plenty of opportunities to get the game in a better state than this.

At the minute it's a clunky, laggy, flickering, rubberbanding broken piece of software.

clunky, laggy, flickering ?

you must be playing a different game to me - I've had some lag in one map - Tehran Highway

but other than that pretty silky smooth really - don't see the issues ? and yes I've played on 64 player games

Unfortunately I have not really enjoyed this game unexpectedly. After around 15 hours, I think I have decided I've had enough of this game for the time being.

Performance - I think the graphics are good. Although they possibly have the potential to be great due to the limitations of my current system i.e. not DX11 and not fully maxed out (all except one item is on high). I have not found a successful set-up without having to compromise on image quality for a good average frame rate and non-flickering greenness that appears from time to time. I shall wait until a patch and a few drivers come out.

Gameplay - What teamwork? In all the servers I have been playing in. No one sticks together in their squad nor does anyone make any attempt at some sort of basic strategy to win. Chance, stupidity or lack of concentration from the enemy team or both, good players crowding over to the other team seem to determine who wins a round in this game. Because of this and the following, I find the game frustrating and quite simply boring. On Battlefield Bad Company 2 for example and other non-prioritized-teamwork games I find it quite possible to be the lone wolf by not camping and having fun at the same time. I do not find the BF3 experience satisfactory. The game seems to penalize not camping in my opinion.

So until the game gets upgraded in terms of performance patch and Back to Karkand maps which I hope I will enjoy more or new drivers come out or indeed by the next time I upgrade my computer, and lastly if I am not in some sort of proper team, I can't find myself playing this game for very long because of the reasons above.

What does everyone else think about this?

Just got back from about 3 hours play. The first hour was "meh". Then I switched to Hardcore mode, and the game improved ten fold :D

I don't like hardcore mode, people from your own team kill you, there is no penalty for the person that killed you either, so they keep doing it [trolling].

I actually ended up hunting the people who killed me on my own team.

You must have been playing on a poor server.

I was only TKed twice, both were genuine accidents.

anyone else having random black screens?

just happens on bf3

sli enabled but CPU and GPU overclocks removed to troubleshoot. just bombs out after a while of playing. pc restarts.

gutting to say the least.

I seen a few people fix blackscreens by switching between fullscreen and windowed modes so guess it's worth a go.

I guess you are using 285.62s aswell?

Is there any way to stop the "out of date driver" message from popping up, other than by updating the drivers?
They're not the latest drivers, I know they're not, so I don't need BF3 telling me every time.

The game runs ok once it's going, so I don't see any need to introduce new drivers and possibly mess up something else just to get 1 game to work.

Over a game? How sad.....

It was a sacastic comment base on what I quoted, which was someone saying it must be difficult making a game.

I suppose making a game is difficult, but the 10 million x £30 and more per game above makes up for it.

And it's not as if DICE haven't made a game like this before.

I'm starting to enjoy conquest more. Basically to make conquest fun (for myself), I just dedicate the match to a single control point and play attacking/defending it as infantry
