Beat this pay rise!

That really grinds me and as something that Cameron should definitely add to his claw-back-from-the-EU list. People should be able to work whatever hours they want past a certain amount and if agreeable by the employer. 60 should be the legal limit, but it should be read that more can be worked if employee and employer agree.
It depends. I am fairly certain that at the moment any maximum hours imposed are for safety reasons. There's no 60 hour limit as far as I'm aware of. The Working Time Directive specifies 48 hours but you are able to opt-out.

£2000 an hour? - is it owned by McDonald's or by a Franchisee?

I guess the owners can make rather a lot if they've got the right location...

Tbh.. as much as people known the idea of working at McDonalds I'd bet that someone who is reasonably smart would do reasonably well if they stuck at it - i.e. if you started as a teenager you'd surely be managing a restaurant by the time you were in your 20s and could potentially be on a serious wedge by the time you hit 30... Apparently they have a grad scheme too...

It is a National store (owned by McDs) and we are in a VERY good location :P

You can do very well if you stick at it :P

Our store manager is.... Maybe 34 and he's on £60kp.a with 18-23k of bonuses. Which he ALWAYS makes. Lucky sod. Although his good wage is due to him winning business of the year a fair few times

Very good grad scheme. Walk into Hamburger University with your degree in anything and 18 months later you have your own store :D

Ha I wish! The pace your required to work at for hours on ends is staggering. It is a hot, sweaty, horrible job which no one else will do. There are other staff in my store who when told they are on fries just clock out and go home.

They would rather miss 2 days work than work that station.

I work at one of the UK's busiest stores where we frequently make £2000+/hr selling 99p burgers. We average about one car served ever 16s at peak times.

We're very busy. And sufficed to say, it's a lot of fries XD

*note to self **** liquor stores and their cricket bat toting owners McDonalds are the place to rob!

I didn't get a pay rise this year due to the company apparently not doing well :(

My boss did buy a nice new £1.2m house though

I just got myself a 27% payrise on thursday night needless to say im quite chuffed about it :D long overdue mind :p

Thank you! And I know, that's what was putting me in a bad light, I have minimal work history, and people don't want that! But I sailed through the interview for this one, and it's my kinda thing!!

I love being in a Union - 5% pay rise and £800 lump sum :-)

Why on earth would you want to work 60hrs a week? I've gone P/T to 30hrs a week and it's still too much tbh.

I assume you have now family/hobbies/social life?

Work to live, not live to work.

Money I guess..... which strongly relates to the family bit.

I do 60 most weeks, I find it easier than the 40hrs I used to do at another job as I love what I do, then weekends are great as we all go out and do what we want as there is enough spare cash to do so.
