Note or Nexus?

Nexus is nicer to hold, not half as difficult one handed if you know what I mean. It's more SGS2 than note that's for sure. While the nexus size is a bit bigger than I'd like it's certainly more usable, the note is almost comically oversized, not really sure where the target is for this device considering the nexus announcement either - it now lacks power advantage (200Mhz isn't noticeable) and ICS in comparison.

This is my line of thinking too.

I really can't see why you'd opt for the Note over the Nexus. People in the Note thread are saying they have a Bluetooth headset paired and ready for use if someone calls them, but that just seems a bit of a faff to me. That would also imply they are in agreement that it's a bit too big to hold against your ear comfortably, and without looking a bit strange, especially if it's white.

With the Nexus you're getting pretty much all the benefits and none of the drawbacks. The S-Pen thing isn't going to be much use either, having a device with a stylus is just odd, I didn't like it on the N900 and I won't on this either.

People who use their device primarily for non-phone uses.

People using bluetooth headsets when they aren't driving look like ***** to be honest. I'm sure i'm not the only one to think this.

the Note is just too big in my opinion. Sexy as hell but just ridiculously big!

Until yesterday I hadn't really considered the Note, but as people have said, if you use your phone for non-phone uses, the Note is perhaps ideal...

It seems rather over priced, everywhere is around £600. Anyone know if you can get it on contract anywhere?

Also, what returns policy do carriers give, if I got a note, then switched to the Nexus within 2 weeks?

Not too sure mate. I know the Distance Selling Act covers you for 14 days though...

For a contract phone and sim card, as soon as the sim card is used, the DSR isn't applicable anymore. It's the Sale of Goods and Services Act, and after the service is active, most if not all suppliers will refuse to allow you to get out of it.

They create one law and then counter it with another :)

I think the general consensus is that you have 7 days to decide whether you want the phone or not as long as you don't use the SIM card in any way.

Even making a call with a different/old sim card is practically criminal to CPW should you later decide to return the phone lol. :p

It's Distance Selling Regulations and covers you for 7 days from the day of getting the product and is only applicable to online, by mail order or over the phone purchases.

I think there is a "cooling period" with most mobile service companies too.

Here's more about your rights and when the DSR may or may not apply.

You need to make sure that your mobile service doesn't start within that period if you want to cancel your contract under DSR.

LOL! :D

It's said to be seven full working days from the day after getting the product which some might say is eight days because you also get the rest of the day.

Often it's said simply as seven days from the day of getting the product and that is like saying it's six full days plus the rest of the day.

So if you take delivery of a product at 3pm and the company you bought it from closes at 5pm you have seven full working days plus the two hours you have left of the day you received it to contact them for a return under the DSR.

I don't mean to be pedantic but it's often interpreted incorrectly and I've seen people give up on the DSR when they actually have a full working day left to organise a return!

It's actually 7 working days, starting from the day after you receive it, based on the fact that not all deliveries are made at the same time.

And the earlier you take delivery the more time you have.

So if I took delivery of something at 7:00am and the company opens at 8:00am and closes at 5:30pm, I effectively have eight full working days to organise a return under the DSR. :D

Working days. :p The weekend doesn't count towards it.

I know.
