beat the HDD price rises- buy an external :)

I just grabbed an external to rip the drive out too. I think they will certainly follow with price rises but the bricks and mortor stores still seem to have them at old prices until the stock sells.

External seems be be the way to go atm

Just been looking around and found...

2tb for approx £80
and
3tb for approx £120

Not too bad, store hasn't confirmed my order tho yet, which is worrying.

Why the sudden increase in HDD prices? What have I missed?

*edit* n/m, spotted the other thread.

And your need for so much free space is...?

Well I dont ... I just wanted two F3s in Raid 0, and also needed an F4 for backups.

But with the prices as low as they were when I bought them, I got 2 F4s!

The second F4 isnt even being used, its only backups of non game files on that drive. The first F4 is everything that doesnt need to be on the Raid 0 setup plus the same backups.

So I have double backups!!! I could actually Raid 1 the F4s, but then I would lose 2 Gb of space.

I have 12TB you noob soon to be 16TB

Hardly impressive :D

In fact its a joke I certainly wouldn't be bragging about it!:p

But I only have 4 hard drive slots!

Noob :p

Plus 3.5TB of External USB connected.

Plus 1TB Apple Time Capsule

Plus 3TB External HD that i haven't got around formatting from my dead PC.

:D

I've got another 10TB of free space I can use so I should be ok for the next year. I also noticed WD 2TB external hard drives going for £37 last night on Ebay. The guy had 100 to sell and they all went in the space of 8 hours. He had 202 feedback ratings and none in the negative. I wonder how he was selling them so cheap? and how he got hold of them? weird.

Off the back of a lorry?

Maybe, I was thinking of buying some. You would at least double your money. And thats worst case scenario. He was by far the cheapest on Ebay and I dont think you could even buy these at his price even before the floods.

Probably his account has been hijacked and the seller has pocketed several thousands of pounds for something they don't actually have.:D

very easy, just use a very thin bladed screw driver and take your time.

or if you dont want to worry about warranty or reusing the caddy its a 2 second job :)

Cheers i plan on replacing my 500Gb and 320Gb data drives so it would be handy to be able to put the 500Gb in the enclosure to use as a backup drive.
