Who's still on I7 1366?

4ghz 920 here and happy for the time being. Will probably go for 2011 after its come out and iv seen some reviews and some manufacturers push out the higher end mobos/ram etc. ArmA3 will be my main upgrade need which i imagine will need a beefy CPU and lots of RAM or at least i hope so :D

I went from a 920 to i7 2600k, the diffrence is good but you may as well now wait for ivy bridge.. the 920 is still a good pc so unless you need to dont bother yet.

I'm on LGA1156 and really trying hard to resist the temptation to move to Sandy Bridge. To be fair, i'll be going to Ivy Bridge either way so I think i'll wait it out for now and do the upgrade in Q1.

Well i'm still on socket 775 with my Q9550. Tempted to move to SB but to be honest my chip at 3.4GHz is still plenty fast enough. Certainly it seems the CPU is less and less of a factor for gaming anyway, it's all in the GPU. Most games don't even tax modern PC hardware thanks to everything being console ports these days.

I caved like a madman! Reason is I feel that this is the right time to flog a 1366/1156 system, they won't be worth as much next year. And with the BF3 craze going on atm, there's big demand for good second hand hardware atm. The outlay won't be huge when I sell my old system (sig). Besides, my old mobo cpu combo was never a great overclocker to begin with. Also really want something new to play with while the missus is away this week :)

I ordered one of the new Asus z68 Gen3 motherboards, so there's good longevity in the z68 platform for me (ivy & pci-x3). Oh, and I plumped for an i5 2500k, as I found that hyperthreading is wasted on me. It's good for video encoding alright, but I find that when I put the system to work at that, I go off and do something else anyway.

Already have an ssd, and won't be buying another one until they come down in price capacity.

1366 i7 920 here too.

I've had a few temptations to upgrade, guess it's now a habit to look after a number of years with the same hardware. It's then surprising to find there is no real reason to do so. :)

Waiting for the next big CPU/MB step up before I upgrade.

Still using my 920 (C0 stepping) @ 3.8 and not planning to ugprade until 2013 unless it develops a serious problem.

Currently using an i7 920 @ 3.4ghz but just ordered a new SB rig because I wanted better performance for some new SSD drives :)

Hello Chaps. As per what Alex is saying - Do you reckon its worthwhile upgrading from a i7930 to a SandyBridge E? Not just for the chip but for the Board upgrades so the SAta 6's and the USB 3's.

Sam

1366 920 D0 stepping here. Lasted me longer than any other processor I've owned.

I love my i7 920, one of the best bang-for-buck buys I think ive made since i bought a AMD Axia or my Radeon 8500 :)

My 920 runs at stock speeds for most of the time, I only crank it up to 4.2 if i'm gaming. Yet a lot of the time i forget and i hardly notice the difference tbh... so i cant see myself getting SB or even Ivy.

Until things start to slow down and i'm at 4.2GHz, then i'm gonna keep milking my 920 :)

Entirely depends what you use the computer for. Do you a) have anything which doesn't run fast enough on your 920, and b) anything which can take advantage of sata/usb3? If no to a) and yes to b) it may be better (and a huge amount cheaper!) to get an add-in card for sata/usb3.
