For anyone with connection issues on the ps3 try opening these ports.

If you are playing on PS3, please enable the following online ports on your connection: TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 10000-10100, 17502, 42127 UDP: 3659, 14000-14016

If you are playing on Xbox 360, please enable the following online ports on your connection: TCP: 53, 88, 3074 UDP: 53, 88, 3074

Whichever you have more friends on, neither version is superior to the other.

Only plus point is for the 360 just due to the fact it is much easier to get voice comms going for the moment at least.
 
The AKS 74U is locked for me, yet I can use it when I'm not playing as the US Army. Why? I have loads of upgrades for it, but I can't customise the gun because it says it's locked. :confused:

Am I missing something?

on the bottom right is your health, while in a vehicle above it will be another bar in %, most tank shells take 20-30% per shot. i tend to heal around the 36% mark

all scopes give glare, but only if someone aims in your direction (like the tactical lights,laser sight)

there are some specific weapons only for each side (i think its just the starting guns for each class) just hit X/square and set your soilder up (press A/x while on the main weapon for attachments page)

You can only customize the Russian weapons during a game on the spawn menu, by pressing X on the Xbox. For some reason it's only the US soldier you are able to setup and customize in the main menu, pre-game.

There isn't even any instructions for flying vehicles, given that there is no physical manual and it's not even mentioned in the manual that's included in the menus.


I think the reason people are complaining about helicopter controls is that it worked well on BC2, and similarly they were difficult to control at first... but the change they have made for BF3 is different and requires more control, which I myself haven't quite got the hang of yet.

Yeah you're pretty much just thrown in at the deep end, although the helicopter controls are harder, I do prefer them as to me they make more logical sense.
 
I have asked this before, but I shall ask again. Are you guys just using any random server or which ones are better please (UK(PS3))


As for learning to fly. Can you NOT join a empty server?

Also Claymores do not seem effective. They do not always kill, well I put them down and do not always hear/see them go off.

Sound also sometimes goes off. You can just hear your gun only no other noises...bug

loving this game so far, thanks to the bolt action snipers with Acog, it realy is a killer, owned the enemies with sv98 with acog, stratight bolt, and laser it was a sure beast, managed to unlock m40 just now and unlcoked the acog, so far loving it :D
 
Launcher suggestions people for the Engi.
Cant decide between the standard RPG (starter) or the one with lock on (Tank stinger, not the ground to air stinger).

According to the description the stinger is "highly effective against armour" yet it takes the same nr of hits from side / behind as the RPG does, and takes an age to lock on too =/

Cant see any benefit or am i being blind?

Not sure as to the servers, i just grab any one that comes. with the empty server for learning how to fly, wont work at least not on 360 has to have 3 on 3 to start the map (at least on conquest)

and as for the claymore, are you using them right? i think i have had 1 fail on me, but the rest are 100% kills,where are you placing them i might be able to help there is also a very nice trick to get past them, but i have yet to see anyone do it with my clay's its all about the position ;) and just a FYI you can only lay 2 at a time. once the 3rd is put down it removes the oldest placed claymore (1st).

not seen/unlocked the anti-tank stinger? or are you on about the javelin???

if so the jav is VERY good at taking out tanks (with soflam) almost everytime only takes one shot. instead of 3-4 RPG's etc. personally i prefer using the repair tool to take out tanks most people are idiots and dont know how to use the tank properly and/or equip it correctly the tank (MBT) is by far the best vehicle on the game it can take out every other vehicle its an all in one (after a few hours to get the upgrades) can also take out targets even behind cover the zoom optics on the tanks are amazing for ranging targets

i LOVE bolt action snipers. one thing i found though is that people run faster than you can move while scoped at huge distances which is annoying, i would understand if i was close but meh i can live with it i guess also the bullet drop is way off and seems the bullets have a max range they disapear after about 300m...grrr the more i think about it sniping in this reminds me how bad it is in cod. :(

Mmm it always takes 3 hits for me which is crappy =( its only 2 RPG's if your positioned well.
I never get a laser target though so maybe thats it

yeah, SOFLAM is an unlock for it and well worth it if you can be asked to mess around with it as its "out of box" crappyness

i have never been taken out by 2 RPGs. whilst in a tank, not sure on smaller vehicles :eek:
 
Couple of things i haven't worked out yet ?

How have people managed to get lasers on their pistols ? they don't appear to have any unlocks, and all i can find is a suppressed one and a tactical one with a flashlight, none with a laser ?

Secondly, does anybody on here actually play recon ?

i honestly just feel so useless when playing it. I snipe the odd target, i move about, i spot targets, but i just don't get nearly enough points to start unlock the juicy stuff like the laser painter.

And if i start running around with my sniper at close range, i get owned.

How do people actually play it without being a wookie and staring down the scope into nothing all game long ?
 
The G17C comes with a laser attached to it.
WotDa loves him some recon action, you could use one of the all purpose guns with the recon kit? tactical insertions are great
 
On another note.

THe DAO12 may only be a re skinned Saiga 12k, but the ability to have it so early on in the ranks is a god send.

On close quarter maps like Seine Crossing and Operation Metrol you really can just go through a whole squad like a hot knife through butter.
 
Run around with your shotgun for a bit. :) I don't think this game has the motion sensor that Bad Company 2 had though. I liked that.
 
I dont know how much longer I can play with so many completely and utterly useless people playing it....I mean some real mentally handicapped that lack all manner of commen sense!
 
This was another really good game as Engineer

Only 6 kills but i spent the entire map defending point D at the Gas Station from Russian Tanks. Use the explosives specialisation and it doubles the number of anti tank mines you carry and RPGs. It was amazing fun. Everything battlefield is about - getting MVP and racking up nearly 5000 points whilst only actually killing 6 people
