The most influential gaming man of all time is...

i kinda see what they mean - stuff like the iphone brought casual gaming to the masses and was encouraged for all ages, but i wouldnt have said he was most influential personally :)

Not really, I would have thought that Angry Birds alone did that.

Oh and on the old Nokia phones. Snake and Snake 2. I'm sure they brought gaming to the masses :p

Bruce Shelley, founder of Ensemble Studios, developer of Panmaster's favourite game of all time, Age of Empires I, II, & III.

Brilliant, brilliant guy.

Kinda agree with this, iOS has helped spread casual gaming, but theres no way steve jobs is the most influential man in gaming.

Sorry, but Gabe wins this hands down. We have him to thank for the Source engine, a glut of brilliant games, and what about Steam? It's basically driving the PC gaming retail sector all on it's own - we can't rely on the high street stores to give a **** anymore after all.

GABE should have been 1st :D Steve jobs should have been about 1 million down on that list next to the Janitor at apple.

Also not being funny but is casual gaming on mobiles REALLY that popular and/or influential in terms of gaming as a whole?

I mean sure, people like to play Angry Birds, and a few other bits and bobs, but it hasn't pulled people away from traditional gaming. I mean seriously much time do you guys actually spend sitting down at home and playing game X on your mobile versus PC/console gaming? For me mobile gaming is kinda like a way of filling time when I can't do 'proper' gaming, you know, like I'm on a train, or laying some cable or whatever...

I mean no disrespect as he's dead and all, but I'm sick of the whole world licking Steve Job's ass. One of my mates works for Apple and his fanaticism is scary.

I have an iPhone and love it, but I really dislike Apple at times

Before he died i didnt even know who Steve Jobs was and ive been gaming since i was 4 years, he must be realy important to the games industry.......

This is getting ridiculous. Steve Jobs was a fantastic businessman and speaker, not a God of all things related to computers/electronics. He was the Bill Gates of Apple. He was an important figurehead. He had his strengths but also his weakenesses.

I'm actually getting sick of hearing/reading about him. I'd be all for letting him Rest In Peace. To be remembered and respected, but not worshipped.

I've never read such ******** in my life. What did Tim Berners Lee and Mark Zuckerberg do for gaming, let alone Jobs? The only names that should be up there who were massively influential in the history of gaming is Miyamoto and Carmack, in either order, and then Gabe Newell, and then Toby Gard for inventing Lara Croft

Steve Jobs
Gabe Newell (cofounder and managing director of Valve)
Shigeru Miyamoto (developer of Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda)
Tim Berners-Lee
Mark Zuckerberg

they're the considered conclusions of 1,000 gaming-industry executives

Proof that gaming-industry executives know nothing about their own industry.
