I'm sure there is some element of truth in what he says; what does grind me is how he is so convinced that everything he says is the complete and utter truth and that if you don't believe in him and his research then you are in a state of hypocrisy.

The answer to the question posed by the OP is both. Your friend is mental but it was also wrong of you to post this. Very wrong.
Sorry but I kind of agree with him on some things, I'm not trying to liken the atrocities that Hitler committed but the EU does have us over a barrel and we don't/didn't even fight back, we let it happen and look at the state the world is in at the moment compared to a few decades ago.

Seems like a rather interesting person.
