16 year old tyre

Excellent result, he will be absolutely fuming.

I would be straight back onto the newspaper and get this printed now that the legal outcome has been proven and judged upon. :)

My bro runs a tyre place.

Anything over 5 years old is immediately discarded regardless of condition.

He says he would like to get rid of stuff over 3 years old but regularly gets them from him suppliers of this age!

Yup, that's the place. Don't worry, they'll be named and shamed.

Trading Standards believe Bristol Evening Post will have a story tomorrow from one of their press releases and my friend is in the PR department at Confused.com so she's going to do an article on it for them and The Express. She reckons it might get picked up by a couple of nationals as well.

RE: Hovis, mug and tyre photo, TS need to hold on to it for 29 days in case he appeals :(.

Love a win-win story :)

Maybe tarring with the same brush but most small tyre places have a tyre or tyres in the back somewhere that's going to be celebrating it's wood/tin anniversary. I know this as when the wifes car had a flat I went round looking for a specific tyre and all the local places managed to find 1 but thanks to these here forums I remembered about the markings on the side and 2 places tried to palm me off with a tyre that was 10+ years old which must have been waiting for the right customer.

So you ended up with £130.

I take it you never got anything for wasted time?

Still kudos, most folk would've gave up by then! :)

Absolutely awesome result, nice work! I remember this thread, glad it worked out for you.

See, people being anal on here can be useful at times :p

LOL, I would have expected you to say "Get over it, it's just a tyre, move on with your life."

:D

Nice one OP :)

Yea, you would expect that. Thats because your expectations often have no real basis in reality. Read the original thread where not only did I not say 'get over it, its just a tyre' I also went off and calculated the exact age of the tyre for him.

I take tyre safety really quite seriously.

Anyone who has read my posts for any period of time will know that my general dislike of the crap attitude of 90% of the motor trade + my fussy tyre standards would obviously lead to me thinking this was a great result for the OP.

Sigh, can't take a joke now Fox? Lol :p

Oh the common 'YEA IT WAS ONLY A JOKE' backtrack, predictable ;)

There was no backtrack, note the "LOL" and ":D" smilie the FIRST TIME round?

Need a humour transplant and a trip to Specsavers too do we? :p

Sadly I have no friends here. maybe we could be friends one day but youd have to sort out the attitude first

I am the one who is joking, there is no attitude from me.

Note who is the one taking all serious here with the attitude?

Where is your sense of humour?

The joke is Fox always take the pragmatic line. The quickest way to resolve this would forget the £130 and move on for the OP and not drag it out for a year and a half as no one was hurt. Of course taking it to Court was the correct course of action, as indicated in the first reply.

My posts were littered with smilies, why do you have to be such a grinch?

I don't care about Fox missing the joke, he always does :p

Good stuff.

Might seem silly to spend an entire day over £130, for both parties but this could have been avoided if the defendant just settled out of court in the 1st place.

Worth it on principle alone though :)
