Does anyone else feel that for a team game, this needs more game modes?
Essentially, every more is simply a glorified TDM.

I play Conquest 90% of the time, and don't get me wrong, i'm loving the game. But capturing the points really has no effect on the outcome as it's purely based on kills/lives.

Ok, so having all points makes it easy to get these kills, and win the game that way. But shouldn't it be based on how long you hold the points etc? It's just TDM with 3-4 extra base spawn points.

I'm new to the franchise and my mate said it was like that on BF2 and it works better this way. So maybe it's for the best. But I was just wondering about it.

Doesn't make me less interested in the game though as I just enjoy playing in the squad regardless and it's immensly fun.

Not massively impressed with the process of getting into a game, so wondering if we are doing anything wrong.

Generally play multiplayer with a couple of other people, so we start in an Xbox Live party and one of us invited the others. However, there doesn't really seem to be any obvious indicator as to when those people have joined, or for them to know they have joined. Are we missing something?

Also when we do join a game, it seems to put us on opposite teams sometimes even though we are joining together?

And finally when we are in a game, can you select which squad you go in so that we are all in the same one?

Cheers.

They deff need to fix this like.

I find choosing a squad very tempermental. It seems to only work if multiple people try to join at the same time. Maybe you cna't get into a squad alone?

I know if i click 'golf' then nothing happens. But if i tell my mate to click it too then we get in.
So I guess you have to communicate which squad to join once you all get in.

The game really ought to put you all together though...why join a squad in the menu if it has no baring on getting into a squad in the game.
Also, when you click quick match, it should only put you in a server which has enough slots for your entire party on 1 team rather than just picking any and seperating you.

I think overall, they just underestimated the amount of players, a LOT and so didn't prepare for this. So many full servers could be making the matchmaking system mess up. If half of them were empty it'd probably work fine.

Well they're doing server maintenance tonight so hopefully this may help my disconnection issues out as I've heard I'm not the only person getting this across the platforms, fingers crossed =)

Its easy

A) Start the xbox live party
B) invite 3 mates to join you in that party making a 4 man squad
C) in BF3 click on the "friends" button (the start button to the right of the guide button)
D) go up and down your list of online friends, and press X on each one to invite them to join your squad.
E) start Game using quickmatch and you should all join together on the same team and same squad

Job done.

The 'tickets' I.e lives each team has left are also reduced on one team if the opposing team holds more than half the flags or something. So that's why you need to capture and hold the flags as it will be taking their lives down until you win.

No, you don't actually see when people join your squad, unless you go to 'Manage Squad' and you should see them there. This does take a little while, and I think this is what you meant?

As for the problem of being on different teams, you can help that. What I do when I have 4 people in my squad and we're looking for a match is:

1) Go to Server Browser
2) Change player's to 5+ or 10+, press X to refresh, go left, that should take you to the last page and join the match with the least amount of players. With 4 it should boost it up, and you should get players filling it up fairly quickly.

You can go in the same squad with all your friends. If you're all on the same team of course! What you do is:

1) Press Start
2) Squads and Team, or something along those lines
3) If you didn't select B to not put you in a squad on a loading screen, you'll probably be in one. In that case, go down the the bottom and 'Leave Squad'
4) Find an empty squad for you and your friends :)

My instructions might be a bit off as I'm remembering it from memory! If anyone wants to correct me, feel free :)

Yes tickets count down faster for the team with less CPs (not sure what the percentage increase per dominated CP is though) and obviously a death loses a ticket. If you revive your team keeps the ticket. Amazingly I was revived 3 times last night in one round! Hmm maybe I should learn to try and get killed less...

people not spotting is a big thing for me. BF2 never had it, but you had UAVs set up by the commander so this makes sense to me. I don't think people know about it though, it's not mentioned in the controls. I only knew about it because of BC2!

Sometimes i just run about defibing people, have like 4000 score but 0 kills and 30 deaths :p

Couldn't care less about stats or score as long as i'm having fun, when i get ribbons etc it's just a nice little extra.

Hi, when the map is loading does it matter if the players have selected "yes put me in a squad" or "no don't put me in a squad"?

Had an issue last night where I ended up in a squad with 3 randoms and my buddy started the match as a lone wolf

Cheers

Thanks for the ideas and help on the matchmaking, it just all seems like a hassle and I can't think of a game that is as poor as this in terms of the menu options.

I think it's pretty obvious that they have taken the lobby from the PC version and tried to fit it into the console versions. I don't remember ever seeing a game on the 360 since i stopped PC gaming that allows you to choose servers whereas PC games were always like that.

Why not leave your squad and join up with him then ? IIRC theres 8 squads to coose from, plenty to go round. :)

No

I've had that option set to yes, and still managed to have all 4 of us join the same squad on the same team.
