Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

I have decided i will probably stop playing for a while until a few patches have come out, it just isn't as fun as it should be atm. I have enjoyed the games on the ocuk/TFU/Bronken servers over the last few weeks but it is very tedious being continually disconncted and then when you do get in a game the rubberbanding and lag is still bad for me.
Add to this the ridiculous IRNV scope which is practically a hack(and then the actual hackers, od which i have seen far too many over the last few days) it takes much of the fun away from the game for me.

Basically a patch to nerf some features, an increase in stability and Karkand will hopefully be implemented soon, and then i shall return i think.

Oh and i would greatly love a rejig of most of the maps, to change some flag locations and such(unlikely i know)

I will however be playing tomorrow night, as i have the week off next week and will be looking to chill tomorrow evening:)

Not sure i like the thrustmaster with a massive throttle, will take up too much desk space, though that one is on ocuk as its the one i noticed on the site and thought maybe. Like the price but i think i prefer a small thrust paddle like on the logitech one.

Touché my search was set to components only

Big fan of TDM all the way back to Quake III, as such just tried out the Bronken-Gaming TDM. Actually a pretty good server. I like the small rotation, and seemed to catch hackers pretty quick.

Slowly working out which maps for Shotgun and which for Sniper. (Big fan of Recon class).

Have to admit my first impressions weren't great for BF3. But it's definitely improving in my opinion. Enough so that I might be able to hold off on my purchase of MW3 xD

Haven't found any planes etc... yet, but they've never appealed to me in games that I've played with these features before, so don't mind too much. Had to unplug the Logitech DFGT to get it to stop messing up my aim, which was a bit of a pain, but I can cope with that xD

Also anyone interested:
Xonar Sound cards Surround Sound
I set ingame sound to Hi-Fi
Analog Out: Headphone
Dolby Headphone on
7.1 Speaker Shift On

Seems to work ok :) It gets location right, but can't quite do distance of shots quite yet.... Might have a fiddle at some point...

(^^ linked as ocuk dont stock it, please delete if innapropriate)

I have been going mad for the last few days as i can not get the game to recognize half of the buttons on the joystick, how have you managed ohhbass?
I can't set Yaw or roll to anything and half of the buttons will not map to anything, the throttle is the only thing i have managed to map. I would be very grateful if you could tell me the settings you are using(in trust if you don't want to clog up the thread).:)

It is a shame as i am using it for other games and it is excellent.

Screenshot of when i was running around for a good ten minutes with no HUD, absolutely nothing was working... Not even the chatbox! Annoying bug, end up having to shoot at anything that moves :o

You must have played a very small pool of FPS games over the years then. BF1942 still the best Battlefield imo, Operation flashpoint cold war crisis (making sure people don't think of the new S*** ones :D) being my favorite fps I've played.

If they did a version of Quake 3 on the FB2 Engine I'd be never touching BF3 again.

BF3 is lovely though. I love the COD aspect, however understand some people will really not like that.

Definitely growing on me (I was raging about it a couple of days ago...)

I had a lot of trouble with it in the beta, but it seems ok in the final release

I use the joystick for up/down and roll, i use the pack paddles of the throttle to do the turning (yaw?) they arnt recognised as an axis like they should be, but they seem to function ok as buttons.

BF3 does list the controls with silly names, eg it refers to the trigger as 'pad up' and a few other silly names, but it does seem to bind the buttons correctly, even if it looks a bit wrong due to the names it uses.

^^ yeah the joystick right is pad up but is not recognized when i try to map it to roll(i have tried to set it up exactly as you have done). I might try playing around with the mapping on the actual joystick when i get round to it. I can map most buttons, i just can't get the y axis on the joystic to be recognized atm.

I'd love to know how he does those surprise C4 attacks undetected.

Yeah, how come i never find myself in those situations:D
