Dont have to use the sniper rifles only in Recon. Recon is my SMG class, get the motion sensor and the beacon down and get into the action. Silenced UMP is my current gun of choice in Recon. Sniper rifles are rubbish in BF 3, get more joy with acog and iron sights on the snipers than the scopes.

Correct placement of the beacon and motion sensor and the other team will be hard pressed to come away with a victory.

What I'm saying is that a real recon doesn't use his weapon at all if he doesn't absolutely need it. He provides intelligence without being detected. If I use the MAV you won't even be able to get to your destination if people respond to my information because I can track you all the way. Of course if we are talking one squad against one squad ours will have one man less but we would be better prepared.
I'm not saying that you are not a team player or your way of playing is bad. You will still be a lot more useful than people staying back to only snipe. Still, if you only use the MAV and you have voice-comm you will be more useful.

Getting some CTD midd game now, mostly when im attempting to fly.. It's like someone up 'there' doesnt want to let me loose on a jet!

The first sniper rifle for the US is better than the first one you unlock.

Got a 405 metre head shot with it today, an engineer was repairing a tank one of my guys was trying to RPG and he couldnt reload quick enough to take it down.

Very satisfying blowing his head off from that range.

Just played a few games on the Bronken 64 conquerst- Rubberbanding like mad, lost my loadouts, no enemy identifiers, spotting didn't work, couldn't use scope hald the time, must have had lag as i was being one shot killed from people who hadn't turned a corner. And when it does all work properly you are kileld by guys running around with the IRNV scopes all the time which is basically a buil-in hack!

I'll wait for a few patches, probably play it again in a few months.

What is your connection quality like? I was in the same squad as you and everything seemed fine.

I don't usually get any lag, though i am playing through homeplugs atm. other games are fine, i was playing Fifa 12 before with no problems. The Rubber banding was the most annoying thing though. Was i the only one getting it?

Unless you have the silencer attached to the sniper rifle, then, yes, ideally the recon shouldnt even fire a shot. Dedication and patience would also be needed to do this.
SOFLAM with randoms is a non-event i might add

You can hear and spot the MAV a mile off, never found myself worrying about them at all, destroy them most of the time before they see me. Dont see them used that often to be fair.

Go to the loadout screen for the different classes. There is a bar near the top with tabs for land and air vehicles as well.

yes, somewhat broken at the minute though, hud doesnt scale correctly, friendly icons missing from team mates, and the sun glare and light effects are really overdone and can make some areas unplayable.

So, I return from a weekend away and trying to play BF3. Seems they have changed the server filters, cool. I now don't have pings for any servers. fml.

really i loved the sv98 when you get the 12x scope and straight pull bolt its a beast..

I didnt have any rubber banding mate so I guess so :/

Lol love the AA gun on the US ship in noshahr canals.

Used it for the whole round against enemy infantries, vehicles etc

They couldn't do anything about it

Gained some nice kills.

Btw does russian side have AA gun aswell in that map? I couldn't find it.
