My girlfriend and I: stopped work for life on benefits

While this is a clear and cut case, is the word (and action itself) 'troll' not getting used a little too often!?

Lol I earn £80 in a morning - go and get a proper job, the pair of you.

That's a daily wage for most people though (plenty earn less) with tax, ni, commuting costs to come off that, bringing up children is a job in itself, those kids may become tomorrows teachers, police officers etc, why shouldnt the state support them, every child deserves an equal chance.

The days of having your own 3 bed semi (which you need if you have kids) in an 'ok' area on a modest wage I.e factory worker, retail assistant, secretary, are over due to excessive house price inflation, many people on these forums openly admit to being given cars, house deposits, or inheriting large sums of money to finance their lifestyles, If the op has none of this then I don't blame him for using 'bank of the state' rather than the bank of mum and dad.

i've done perfectly fine with the part time jobs i've done (team leader), and the degree, PhD and 8 years working in my chosen industry sector are taking care of my family fine, thanks. Its n=1, but proof enough for me.

For the significant majority in uk state schools who barley struggle to meet government targets of 5 a-c including English and maths, a phd probably isn't an option:p

No hes not.
Sorry, I don't understand what you're referring to here.

The system doesn't say "If you would be better off sacking in your job and turning to benefits then do it." Its there to help those that cannot work or are looking for work. If you quit your job to go on JSA then you are fiddling the system and you should not be entitled to a penny. You can't claim JSA whenever you don't like a job or feel that you would be better off unemployed.

Go to a job centre and tell them that you would like to sign on because you just quit your job and would be better off without it and see what they say.
I don't claim to know the in's and out's of the benefits system in this country - my original post was based solely on the information provided by the OP. If the information he provided is correct - i.e. he's been told he's entitled to the amount he mentions, and he's better offer claiming than working - then your post is irrelevant.

You seem to be suggesting that he's not entitled to that amount? That's a different issue entirely.

As far as I'm concerned quitting your job to live off benefits is tantamount to theft - just because you're legally entitled to it doesn't mean it's morally correct.

1. It's not theft.
2. They are trolling you.
3. Person A taking what they are entitled to is not immoral - berating & vilifying a person for it on the other-hand is.
4. Before you start another one of your mindless brain-dead anti-benefit rants, I work full time & receive nothing from the state.

Great plan. I hear the career opportunities on benefits are amazing at the moment. With in two to three years could quite literally be bringing home the same amount or less. Not to mention the great example you'll be setting for your children. One day they might grow up to claim benefits too.
