Battlefield 3 tips & tricks

Once I have done this, how does one get his nice looking windows back ? After exiting the game Im left with a UI that looks like windows 3.1

Your tip defiantly works and i get a bit of vram back, thank you very much.

It resets itself on its own, give it time. :D

Awesome thx rjk max on caspian border all ultra 1920x1080 was 1142MB at 2xAA now 1006MB so I can try going up to 4xAA or adding more post AA :D

Why dont all games do this automatically!!??

I don't understand howcome people on the same res with more or less same graphical settings are getting different vram usage?

The game works around the max VRAM it can use, i.e GFX cards with 1 gig VRAM tend to max out about 980mb in BF3, 1.5gig cards use 1470mb e.t.c the game utilises as much as it can and does the best with what it can temporarily store.

I'm on the same boat. Closed all windows, event ended explorer and restarted it, but my windows theme is still basic :(

Yep, just upped post to high, no noticeable performance hit so far, everything on ultra, blur off and hbao off.

800x600 with all details at lowest is sadly the most effective way to gain an advantage at multiplayer FPS games, I prefer to play with all the graphics up but half the time I get killed by people before I can even see them.

So does that mean that gameplay/visuals will be more smooth with more usage of vram?

Also more assets will be seen with more vram ?

For those of you who enjoy the Metro or Bazaar Conquest servers, instead of equipping RPG or m320 to rack up kills try out the USAS-12 shotgun with frag rounds + IRNV on the Assault class. Then watch as both your kills and points soar compared to noob tubing it up.

I fully expect the USAS and frag combo to get a severe nerf at some point.

get a f2000 and never lose :D gun so deadly you become terminator.
Id hazard a guess that thats the gun that has killed me the most. Also tried the irnv scope, makes the game so easy i actually felt guilty using it.:D Id say though that it does need to be nerfed for daylight use.

no joke the tdm you joined me and massy on i unlocked it and went 6 7 straight maps with like 20+ for 4 deaths every round. so easy with that gun.

probably get nerfed once all the whiners get on it.

I expect it will also depend on what is being rendered on the screen at the time and is affected by amount of AA applied. The very brief 5 min test I did was spawning at the Antenna on Caspian and driving the tank around the rocks and then running around a bit.

My GTX570 is the 1280MB version.
