Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

For some random reason W7 changes the colour theme to basic when I load BF3..
It didn't do this from release up untill yesterday then just started :confused:

Am i right in thinking all its doing is turning Aero off and freeing up about 100mb of Vram? Or is it doing something else too, Should I care?

LOL no. It's the 5th game in the Elder Scrolls series (Qblivion, Morrowind Daggerfall etc..) Each game is separate though, you don't need to have played any previous game in the series.
 
I admit some of the maps are a bit mehhhhhh and no where near the quality of bf1942, bf2. To be fair the level design team as done the worst job on the game.

But some of them are very well thought out and with the right teams just brilliant. You only have to take metro as an example, if your playing it as a one man army it will be a tedious spam fest but with a team its superb.

Glad I'm playing it with 5-10 friends per night, its when this game really shines.
2 of us In jets a attack chopper crew and a few of you in squads pushing the flags calling in defrag to come rape anything that moves around the point.

Clearly it isn't enough for me :p This is one game where you can cycle through all GFX modes in game and see immediate changes - I like the effects of HBAO but HBAO has too big a hit so SSAO is 2nd best, no AO is just rubbish and looks dated graphically because corners and texture wall crossovers look weak - Since I am used to playing BC2 with HBAO enabled I cannot play BF3 without the same level of processing effects like this.

The terrain decoration and mesh settings must be Ultra for me, the GTX460 does those perfectly fine and Shadows are on High. The framerate killers I found are FSAA and ambient occlusion - The 2 settings that I had at 4x and HBAO in BC2 so I'd like to carry on that level of smoothness and visual quality :)

I've turned off MSAA and only use FXAA (the post-processing one) and I honestly can't tell the difference. Looking at comparison screenshots I'd say it actually looks better, certainly not worth the performance hit.

The random disconnects annoying me now, didn't have them until the last origin/battlelog update.

Loading times for maps on mine last night has suddenly gone from what seemed like minutes to just a few seconds now.

Yup squad play is where it's at. Being able to hear Rifleman rage is half the fun for me! :D

Oh, and let me qualify that comment from Spils by saying I go raping in my helicopter, not by turning up with a jar of lube and leather underwear :p

The best part for me, he's not my friend today, as I spawned on him whilst he was camping noobs with silenced weapons, So I pulled out my g36c unsilenced and started shooting at anything that moved. getting him killed and giving away his camping spot.

Apparently Im a noob and a idiot for doing so :D I still love him.

Have you tried disabling UNP on your router? I used have a lot of ramdom disconnects unlit i disabled unp
