dremel - but i wouldnt try it tbh - it might look cool - but im not confident enough to make sure it is done right :p

Hole saw. Shouldn't be difficult at all, just make sure to line it up straight and to use the correct size hole saw, looks like this:

And your gonna' need a drill of some sort.

You can then put the fan in place and mark out the mounting holes, then drill the required holes x4

this,
just make sure you get the right diameter

True, just measure the inside diameter of the fan then round it up a mm or two and thats the size you need :)

I'm sure I saw in one of the case modding threads what size hole saw = what size fan.

Remember not to rush the cut either, hole saws have a habbit of pulling away if you go at it too fast, your also going to want a half round file or sanding paddle to clean up after the cut.

Agree with the above, the holesaw will give a much neater job. You can get them in various sizes and any drill with an adjustable chuck should be able to do the job. Best to set to the fastest speed but don't push, let the drill do the work and go through as slow as possible. A centre-punch type tool might also be a good idea otherwise the pilot drill bet tends to 'wander' over what you're trying to drill. You might want to check out MNPCtech.com and have a look at some of the guides Bill Owens does. He's a fantastic case modder and has a great following and some very useful tips and modding techniques.

Cheers guys :)

Just wondering would I be best having the fan pulling air out or pushing it in ? would be doing the same as in that pick, just unsure which is more better to use

I didn't add a fan, I just wanted better airflow for the existing PS3 fan. but it you were to use an extra fan then you will need to push air through.

Guys apart from a 140mm fan like you can see in the pictures, what else will I need to buy so I can screw it to the case? Will I need a grill as well?

Thanks so much!

just bet some nuts and bolts to secure the fan to the case. A grill will be good for safety or even an mesh grill to prevent dust from entering the system if your pushing air through.

Just so you know (Im also termpted to do it myself as I have some spare fans laying around) it will probably make your PS3 less appealing to buyers if you intend to sell it second hand as you have modified it
