Hello folks.

Anyone had any issues with this drive/motherboard?

Drive is a 2nd drive (1TB, most applications, music etc.) to a C300 SSD Windows 7 drive. CPU = 2500k @ 4.5 and there's 8GB of ram. Also another 2TB drive in there.

In my old Core 2 machine the drive ran flawlessly. Now it's starting behaving strangely. Access seems to disappear to it sometimes which causes windows to die. The PC then fails to reboot - it gets stuck at the windows loading screen and I have to hard power off, cut power to the drive and reboot. That works. The hard drive then seems to come back to life when plugged back in but is prone to doing the same after any length of time.

I've now backed everything up but I'd rather it didn't die. It's in the SATA II port in the motherboard if that makes any difference.

Any thoughts or is the HD just on its way out?

Hi
The motherboard is a B3 revision - not sure how to check the firmware on the HD though. I've noticed that it's starting to make some clicking noises which I'm guessing means it's doomed. Will try and find a firmware upgrade and see if that works...

You can check the drive firmware in device manager, mine didn't have an affected firmware.

HD103SJ.

Says it does, I have this drive too but can't work out how to flash it?

I don't have any problems though so might just leave it.

That's the drive model, the firmware on my drive is 1AJ10001 and the flash tool says my drive isn't eligible for the update.
