The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Nobody became a vampire yet? I asked yesterday but got no responses...

(

Ive been Bit by one, didnt realise for a bit then the sun came up and it gave me a warning luckily i had a cure disease potion so took that and i seem alright.

On that note anyone know where you can find what diseases are active on you? I was in a town earlier and told i looked unwell so thinking i might have something.

I dunno, but I'd like to know that as well. I got bit by a wolf on the way to Whiterun and the game said I had caught a disease. Is a potion the only way to cure it or are there holy alters like in Oblivion?

Yeah it produces negative scaling with crossfire, have to disable your second card until they release the new CAP, they are working on it.

having dabled with crossfire in the past (SLI for that matter is similar) - I really don't see the point - all that extra hastle and having to wait a few weeks for proper performance after release - for a few more frames ?

best of getting the fastest high end single GPU you can get IMO

What fov are you guys using ?? I put mine up to 75 but may try 90 later?? Just curious?

I'm using 90. Getting used to 90 from TF2, Deus Ex and Minecraft now :p

Thanks to a friend, I solved the screenshot issue: I had re-assigned the key to Insert instead of F12. It wouldn't work for some reason when using insert :(

its peeing down with rain in my game but theres no water shaders effecting anything and no ripples from the rain on any water sources...

WHAT IS THIS MADNESS! EVEN MORROWIND HAD RAIN EFFECTS

I agree, I haven't spent £££££ on a top spec PC to see graphics dated by nearly 10 years. How some posters here are dumbstruck by the apparently wondrous graphics can only mean they haven't played many sole PC games before to recognise the difference.

I think the game is graphically a step backwards regardless of claims otherwise. no footsteps in the snow, poor close ups textures, foliage that doesn't move if you move through it. Even the much maligned Farcry2 is heaps better graphically than this from over 3 years ago.

Some posters seem o.k. with poor graphics as long as the gameplay is good & that's all well & good but considering that just a decent high spec graphics card costs twice the price of an Xbox I would expect to see more of an effort to make the PC version outstandingly better than PS & Xbosx.

For me, it's the overall render style that is just kind've awful. Everything seems to have really hard edges and the shader they use on all the materials (skin, rock, grass, etc etc) are all the same.

Is this game geared towards people who like Call of Duty or people who like Morrowind? Oblivion in my option was a step toward Call of Duty, in that its mindless fun. Fun none the less, but mindless.
I like having to work things out myself, you get no quest pointers in Morrowind do you in Skyrim?

Im sure ill get Skyrim when the price goes down and its been patched, but id get it tomorrow if it plays like Morrowind.

My simply games order turned up today. Despite what they said it has the premium map too. Also, on the back of the box, it says "not for supply in the uk"

Thank you! I didn't look behind the manual but sure enough, there's my map.

Both of mine also aren't for supply in the UK :>

I remember when Morrowind came out, I was amazed at the graphics, the raindrops spattering on the road etc were truly cutting edge, but that was 2002 !!! 10 years ago!!!

Got a question about the graphics, now i have 6950's Xfired and on Ultra this game looks amazing, however when i start up and run the game it performs terribly, however if i ALT-Tab out then back in again its runs brilliantly, anyone any clue as to whats going on here? i assume its something to do with the drivers or Xfire profile, maybe its not using the 2nd card straight off until i tab back in?
just strange is all.

Meh, getting more irked by bugs, for some reason the location I'm in, if I go near the water the screen just starts bouncing around like I'm jumping and making the jumping noise, so its a pain in the arse, and then it started doing it out of the water so came out to reload game and hope it went away.

That and the utterly irritating, "i've opened a door so the entire contents of the room decides to throw itself around randomly" thing.

Storywise, it gives you a quest to join a group of people, there is no indication of joining them prevents you joining other groups of people, or if you can leave, just a quest that says do it. Now due to killing the guy on a previous quest, they want me to kill the corpse, and it won't update in any way to move forwards.

Graphically, I can see both points of view, overall the game looks very nice but it does lack distinctive features like rain effects and some other things. But, then morrowind looked massively worse overall but with a few better effects. While watching water splash on the ground/puddle is nice, in 99.999% of the time I play I'm not watching the ground at my feet, but watching the world around me........ most of which is vastly vastly improved over older games.

I don't think its epic, I don't think its the best game ever and technically I don't think its doing anything particularly fancy or new. That is what I've always said though, the look/feel of a game has little to do with the latest and newest effects or all the smaller features, but the overall blend of design with the right amount of effects. The sky can look amazing at night and the lighting in general makes the world look very good both night and day.

Oh, and does anyone else have odd alt-tabbing in this game? If I go to windows, I can't click the window or alt-tab back into the game, I have to do it twice, first time brings up skyrim but in a window and black inside window, alt-tab again and it goes full screen to the game, odd.
