The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

****** Royal Fail, Amazon dispatched my copy late Wednesday, paid extra for garaunteed delivery for release day, its now Saturday and still no sign of Skyrim through my door.

Looks like I won't get it til Monday, and that's if I'm lucky

Loving this game overall but it does have a console feel to it rather than a pc game.

I have turned off the floaty quest markers in the ini file as they make things just too dumbed down.

The only negatives for me so far are that the UI is too clunky, the dungeons are far too well lit and the magic is way way too powerful. Need Darker Dungeons & Darnified mods.
I've decided to try to complete the game without using magic at all as it just makes the game too easy so I'm roleplaying a big oaf of an orc who can't do magic :D

My game is running flawlessly so far with every setting on max. I've kept v-sync on and it runs between about 43 - 60 fps (av seems to be between 53 - 60).

There's also some awesome Radiant AI. I was messing around trying to equip fire spells in one hand. Some old woman walked past me & advised in a really offhand way to be careful playing with fire as I might get burnt! Made me chuckle :D

Ahhh, I really get pee'd off with these games, modable seems to mean..... we'll release it unfinished, then we don't have to worry, other people will do the hard work and no one can just sit down and play start to finish knowing they are playing as intended or in a balanced way.

I'm just encountering more bugs, I turned off mouse acceleration via menu(does anyone like this, in any game....... ever, why is it in games let alone turned on, let alone not an option.

Anyway, since turning it off via the ini file, its actually worse. Certain things aren't working right, control for lockpicking has gone all to hell.

Looking at some of the mods/pictures online, its taken 3rd party people basically minutes to make the faces MUCH better, and a different option in game at first glance from the screenshot makes the game look massively better.

Honestly, if a game looks like crap, thats one thing, the thing that REALLY irks me is when the game CAN look like crap, but there is no way to enable "max" settings by standard. You end up playing half way through a game(in general, I'm no where near that), then someone gives you a setting that makes it look way better just with different options.

As others have said aswell it would be nice to play without the quest markers, but SO many of the quests, well the whole quest system is a joke, go speak to random dude name Y. without the floaty marker I have zero chance of ever finding that dude.

Plenty of other games have FAR more detailed journal/quest info so you could work out where to go, solve puzzles and live without the quest tracker. So far this game would be too irritating without it.

My simply games order turned up today. Despite what they said it has the premium map too. Also, on the back of the box, it says "not for supply in the uk"

Was probably all they could get hold of on Wednesday when they realised they'd forgotten to actually order any copies of Skyrim to fulfill their pre orders

Ok, I'm a bit more impressed now

Just visited the monks on the top of the mountain, had to run all the way (very tedious), bought a horse which appears to be just as slow as running ... I'm hoping that the dungeons have some difference between them unlike Oblivion

The dungeons are all handcrafted, and it shows to - I have been really impressed by them so far. So many different traps this time to, and fitting in suitably with the setting of Skyrim

I loved the mammoth head trap!
