what did you do for work experience at school?

Worked for a LAN gaming/game shop in my local town, was great fun, Playing CS pretty much every day lol. Helped them open a new store too which was interesting.

I worked in a bakery (local bakery not crap like Greggs). First day there I was put behind the till and hated it as I expected, just ended up with a huge queue going out the door. Second day I was packing bread and cleaning occasionally. Third day I was making baguettes and sandwiches. Fourth day I was back to packing and cleaning at which point the woman who owned the shop said I could go home at 3:30 instead of 5PM because it got that quiet in the afternoons. I was there for two weeks so I was happy about the reduction in hours :p

Other benefits included lots of free Smarties in the second week when I made ginger-bread men and smilie face things to go in the shop window and a free choice of food for my lunch. I usually had a sausage roll but you could have anything, and they gave me a card with £20 in it at the end of the two weeks which I didn't expect.

A lot of people seemed to get paid for their work experience, which must be nice.

However on our forms it said "You will not be payed for the work" :(

Back in 1995 I worked at a local family electrical business who sells everything from TV's to Cookers. Chapmans electrical in Cradley heath to be precise. I was working in the repair department going round to people houses delivering goods and repairing them on site. I loved it. One of the jobs was installing a huge satellite dish on top of Queen Elizabeth hospital. Carrying those huge concrete slabs up 3 flights of stairs was a killer.

We did two work experiences at my school first one, I asked to go into engineering, the eejits sent me to a volkswagen dealership who expected me to be there for half 7am and no bus from my village could get me into town for then. So I got "sacked" for being late all the time.

Second one was the army for a week, put me off joining the armed forces after that, was fun as heck but slept for like 2 days constantly afterwards. We got woken up by the superman theme at 0530 every morning, still can't listen to that song fully :p

My asshat of a woodwork teacher (the guy organising it) forgot about me apparently and I had to get a last minute week in a shoe shop (boring as hell) and a week in a 2 person office writing html code for a basic webpage whilst learning on the fly from a book. It was really bad and I had wished I had gone to jag with my dad...

I did my work experience as an electrician. Could have been alright but most of the electrician's contracts were in rural areas on farms. Spent a couple days helping the guy out with the electrics in chicken sheds. Even when you leave, the smell doesn't leave you. My sympathy goes out to anyone who works in these places.

packed rollers at a factory for 2 weeks lol

they paid me £325 :D

Was supposed to go to the Stock Exchange but career teacher failed. Got a week off school instead while the rest of the plebs were making coffee and fileing random bits of paper. Loved it!

Never formally did any. Planned some big parties at dads workplace. Also the office shut down so dealt with selling/relocating all the assets to the other offices worldwide.
