The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Wish I had gone for a spellsword build - dual-wielding is fun, but it would be nice to have more ranged power, and then a giant sword for close encounters.

Is a Spellsword the same as a Battlemage? I think that's what I am, I've put my points into upping magika so far (dual fireballs is fun but seems a bit over powered), but I still like to carry a double-handed sword plus use a bit of archery on the side.

i still have pretty much all of my talent points because i dont know what to be :( i was going to be a caster but they seem weak compared to melee....

i picked magicka for almost every level though someone should make a reset mod :P

Caved in and ordered the game today. I'm still running an old 5770 (don't really play games any more) and I saw that it's good enough to run the game. Goodbye second year of PhD, I only just knew you :p

I have ATI HD5770 1GB and it runs sweet for me on high, just about to set everything to ultra and see how it handles that because I think it'll be ok on ultra too.

Why not have both? I'm going for a warrior with sword and shield, and plan on switching out the shield for healing/offensive spells as needed. Throw some opening stealth attacks with the bow in to the mix, and you can enjoy a bit of everything.

I wouldn't like to solely rely on magic, personally.

Some quick questions please:

  1. Where does a horse go when you get off?
  2. How do you get the horse to stay with you when you get off?
  3. Can you call the horse back at any time?
  4. Do you have a stable to put the horse in?
  5. Where is the first class trainer located?
  6. Can someone explain what a battlemage is?
  7. Can you reset your talent points later in the game?
  8. Where is the mod thread someone mentioned?
  9. When using xbox 360 joypad I press the back key and it brings up a timeline, what exactly is this for?
  10. How many Levels are there?
  11. When looking through my items list at all the weapons, lets say I had many swords, axes, maces etc, I struggled to workout which were 1h and which were 2h, does it have a symbol somewhere to state which is which?
  12. I have those two default spells from start of the game, think I am night elf or something and have that electric bolt and a fire bolt, is it possible to duel wield two fireballs or two electric balls instead of one of each?

Thanks in advance :confused::)

Same here tbh, I am saving a lot of mine until I work out where to put them.

I am using a mix of dual-wielding for close up, magic for medium range and archery for long range.

Might end up putting a load of perks into the armour since the top tier stuff is very rare apparently.

I have not experienced any bugs/glitches or ctd's yet but i still can't get a constant decent FPS, it is slightly annoying, i hope they hurry up with a patch/new driver as i am sure that is all that it needs

1. Where you leave it
2. You cant :(
3. No :(
4. No.
5. There are many scattered everywhere.
6. A powerful mage that uses weapons aswell (I think) - a spellsword will only use swordsand magic.
7. Nope.
8. Look around the PC games section, a few pages back.
9. That is your resting bar - select how long you want to rest/sleep.
10. At least 100.

I ended up starting again. Originally I was an Imperial, now I'm and Orc.
Gone for Heavy Armor with a big 2H sword for critical hits and Restoration spells.

Might also spec dual handed restoration so I can fast heal in a fight then re-equip massive 2H sword. :D

You are a "spellsword" type build right? How are you finding it? Getting a bit far into the game to change now, but still a little tempted!

Well, not truly a spellsword, more like a pure mage with a sword :p

I dont have any perks in weapons yet, only magic, but every mage needs a weapon when his mana runs out, and I like big swords best :)

In Oblivion, a Battlemage was Heavy Armor, Blunt, Block and Magic skills. A spellsword was the same but with Blades.

IMO a Battlemage uses weapons + armor, a spellsword uses just weapons and fights unarmored (both with magic too ofc).

The stutter when I aim is out of ****ing control. It's ruining the game for me. Fallout and Oblivion had the exact same issue. 'Not gamebryo' my arse.

My horse tends to be wherever I fast travel to even I lost it.

Handy tip for anyone that gets stuck by the way, just open the console and type tcl then press enter. It'll turn on no clip mode, just repeat the command to turn it off. Got myself stuck earlier and would have lost about 30 minutes playing if not for this, partially my fault for not saving more.

Also if you aren't happy with your build and stuff, I *think* you can reset yourself by using the console. showracemenu will pull up the character customisation and reset your level and skills, then just use advlevel to get back to the level you were at and pick the new stuff you want. Not tested it though, purely just guessing here :)

Appropriate lunch of bread (toasted artisan sourdough loaf), cheese (baked camenbert studded with garlic and drizzled with rosemary olive oil), chutney and ale. Lovely!
